WOO HOO We’re Number One!

Go big, or go home!

But seriously, to compare our numbers without taking into account our population is ridiculous, and the fact that a high percentage is concentrated in the one area of the country with the highest population density.

Somewhere there is a mid-level official, maybe 2 or 3, who should be strung up until they are, in the words of Star Trek’s “Q”, “dead, dead, dead.”* Because SOMEBODY knew the cupboard was bare, so to speak, and even the slightest hints of trouble from China, early on, should have been enough to kickstart precautions that are supposed to be in place even if there’s no hint of trouble...

*Mr. Morden’s head on a pike, with Vir waving “bye-bye” at him, (Babylon 5), suits me too.

Sorry to be so graphic, if the above offends anyone, but this just PO’s me to no end. There is no excuse for it, and God knows how many lives it has already cost.

“I am concerned that some are underestimating this virus”

Many are. In fact, the FluBros are underestimating it so much they need to have safe space threads and spam the forum with denial and conspiracy posts.

I am worried for some in my church. The Pastor is running herself ragged - no spring chicken, she - and a few others are not taking precautions. Most are staying home and doing church online, but a few are doing dumb stuff.

Such a gorgeous day outside here today, not a cloud in the sky, and the birds are all out singing. I just couldn't take the overwhelming serenity any longer and decided to go back inside to my computer, and mess around with projecting how many were going to die from Coronavirus in just a few short weeks - I know right!

Anyway, back to business. I noticed a glitch at the git-go of the most recent DFR (daily fatality ratio) projection I made and posted, so I found and fixed that. I then decided to project out for another 20 days into May, convinced, like Italy, Korea, and Spain, we will hit a barrier at some point where the virus is almost impossible to totally eradicate without a cure or vaccine. I continued past 30 April, 20 days, with a constant DFR of 3 (i.e., "the barrier").

What I saw in the graph was kind of shocking. Once a barrier is hit, the numbers appear to start going back up, and so does the curve. That might explain why Korea's numbers are going back up. Whoa..., I just hope it's another error on my part, but I don't currently believe that to be the case - your thoughts and comments much appreciated.

Just had to share this with y'all, as you never know what tomorrow may bring. Sorry for the less than happy update. Later...

DFR Graph with correction and additional 20 days projected:

JHU is incorrect. China had more deaths - and so did Iran - but they are not admitting it. I would be surprised if there were not half a dozen countries that have, or will have, more deaths than the US. And we are the third most populous country on Earth.
