A hospital in France has had to stop an experimental treatment using hydroxychloroquine on at least one coronavirus patient after it became a "major risk" to their cardiac health.
The University Hospital Center of Nice (CHU de Nice) is one of many hospitals trialing hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 patients. It announced it had been selected for the trial on March 22. A statement from the hospital said it was testing four experimental treatments, one of which included hydroxychloroquine. It hoped to establish its effectiveness and side effects of this and the other treatments being tested.
In an interview with the French daily newspaper Nice-Matin, Professor Émile Ferrari, the head of the cardiology department at the Pasteur hospital in Nice, said the side effects had already been identified, with some patients having to stop treatment because of the risk posed.
He said electrocardiogram recordings of patients involved with the trial were being constantly monitored. An ECG measures electrical activity in the heart, and represents this on a graph as a QT interval. Ferrari said these recordings are interpreted and, if anomalies are reported, treatment is stopped.
Asked if this had happened yet, he said: "Yes, from the start of the trial. Thanks to this ECG follow-up, we highlighted the major risks of a very serious accident in a patient, and the treatment was immediately stopped."
The potential cardiac side effects of hydroxychloroquine were highlighted by the Mayo Clinic at the end of March. An article on its website said the drug has potential to lead to sudden cardiac death in some patients. In a small number of patients it has the potential to lead to prolonged QTc , which can result in an abnormal heart rhythm.
Hydroxychloroquine, Mayo Clinic said, blocks one of the channels that controls the heart's electrical recharging systems.

They don't care if this drug is effective.
Actually they do care, they want to suppress its use because they know its effective.
But they need an economic depression to defeat Trump so they don't care if lots of people die.
On one patient. One. And that deserves an all caps headline?
Yeah, they dont use it on one patient because of pre-existing cardiac issues, then someone in France writes a clickbait headline that makes it sound like its everyone, not just a single patient. So of course SnoozeWeak picks it up.
Is the letter public? Link?
65 years old. FDA approval was 1955.
I see it.
7:10 in Dr Wallace talking about HCQ and Lupus.

(Plaquenil) is Hydroxychloroquine
Very interesting. This webcast is about Lupus with Lupus doctors, but they talk about HCQ and how it is NOT a dangerous drug. Lupus patients have been taking it for decades without heart issues or serious side effects.
Dr Daniel Wallace—— 7:23 “none of my lupus patients have contracted COVID 19, which is quite remarkable”
Dr Wallace suggested that heart issues are associated with Chloroquine NOT Hydroxychloroquine.
Shortages of (Plaquenil)/Hydroxychloroquine are not dire for Lupus patients. They can wait up to a month WITHOUT their prescription.
Shortages for Lupus patients are only temporary anyway.
Pregnant and breast feeding while taking (Plaquenil)/Hydroxychloroquine has been studied extensively without complications. In fact Lupus patients taking (Plaquenil)/Hydroxychloroquine should not stop taking it while pregnant or breast feeding so how DANGEROUS could it be.

Its worth explicitly pointing out that Big Pharma is a major revenue source for the media. Think about all those commercials with the side effects read quickly, with the Do not use [drugname] if you are allergic to [drugname] line, which still cracks me up.
I think youve boiled down the major underlying issues here.
ZPAK? Trump has said it could cause cardio problems in some people.
Well, we certainly need lengthy hearings run by Schiff, that’s for sure.
World wide effort to “can” any drug that may be of help to keep this thing going, despicable
with some patients having to stop treatment because of the risk posed.

Like every drug in the world, some people cannot take it.
And guess what, it is stopped when the person cannot tolerate it.
And they are using EKGs to identify the people who cannot tolerate it.
None of this is remarkable.
Newsweak (sigh). There are always folks who have side effects to all drugs... not surprising that you find people who have a negative reaction to a drug... but 1 patient does not a noteworthy event make... unless of course its a study using a drug that orange man bad mentioned then anything negative found associated with it is the most newsworthy thing that has ever happened in thr history of medicine.
>>Newsweek of course. They need the money.
$1???
anecdotal
Zev’s regimen includes a small dosage of it and Zev says he doesn’t really believe it’s necessary.
MD’s know its effects and know what to substitute if anything.
The main cure is Zev’s regimen for HCQ + Zinc.
POTUS has some of the best military MDs who are some of the best in the world. He wouldn’t say peep unles they cleared it first. He knows of Zev via Rudy via Mark Meadows and had his MDs check and verify.
HCQ + Zinc is the cure.
Maybe add Z-Pak, other knowledgeable Freepers say Doxycyclin is prescribed in lieu of Z-Pak as Z-Pak may cause problems in some, not all, some. The point is MDs know about these drugs, they are not at all new.
Zev = Dr. Zelenko
He’s a real hero.

My sister has been taking that drug for years for Lupus. She just quit taking it in January. She still has a bunch of it in case any of us come down with covid. But back to my point, the drug is dangerous if you take it long term but to take it for 5 days not so much.
