“I guess its just too bad about the old farts who work in healthcare, first responders and other essential services, like my husband who keeps his business open so ingrates like this can have food on the table.”
And pass on my thanks for his service.
By the way, the average age of doctors in the US is 49 for men, 42 for women.
I guess it would be okay to lose a big chunk of our doctors, right? Especially the most experienced ones.
This person has a brother that works for the CDC
To: Albion Wilde
My brother works for the CDC. I dont want to bug him right now, but he is unusually silent. Hearing and watching the news reports I see trickling out all over the world. I see a story starting to snow ball. This is more serious than we think, I think..I hope not, but new cases are coming out by the hour now. Love your family, be right with your God, and wash your hands.

My brother is the infectious diseases coordinator for the director of the department of health in our state. He and teams from CDC, commissioner of public health, county health officials and hospital administrators and others were on a war footing and have been sequestered and brainstorming from the first week in January until now. During that whole month, they got little sleep if any and were away from their families. My brother was exhausted. They began to rotate shifts eventually and it is a little better now but they were on this way before any of us were and havent let up. They have been and are doing everything they can to get this under control. Most of the politicians and officials in Washington State have been in the past vehement Never Trumpers, most probably still are, but Ive talked to my brother and some of his colleagues and they have only good things to say about how Trump has handled this, knowing what we knew at the time and how he has grown into somewhat of a leader (which before only had terrible things to say about him and zero respect for the man). They may still despise him, but they say they are appreciative of how Trump has supported their every move or request and how well VP Pence has handled all of this as point man. Lets all put politics on the back burner of our minds for now. The Democrats for sure, a couple of Republicans, MSNBC, CNN (and even FOX at times) are pouring gasoline and lightning a match to whatever credibility they may have left in the eyes of the American people for not wanting to join together as a team and put aside their petty partisanship to help bring us all together and fight this growing threat as one, as a family. Check in to the news every so often, but we are in the best possible hands at this moment. I wish we could all just mellow out and not worry so much about everything. That we can all learn to self sacrifice, just a little bit and have some faith in God and have hope in and pray for our countys future. (And each other)

“Among the mass medias insane fallacies is that the United States is the only country in the world.”
And it only has 500 people or so.
That really applies in most professions.
SMEs are almost by definition older and more experienced.
When I retired I knew as much about my specific subject as anyone in the country.
When I was younger I had no clue...didn’t know what I didn’t know...
Ha!
How about that herd immunity thing, Sweden?
Meanwhile, how are Czech Republic’s numbers looking? They did put lock down measures in place.
yeah,,what was that about? Mr Bobblehead is such a weasel
How large is your family? Fill that grocery cart to overflowing so you won’t have to go back so often. May need to go back in for a second overflowing cart.
My last grocery trip was March 13. Hubby is a big baby who just HAD to make a junk food run for himself last week. Sugar, sugar and nothing but sugar. Nothing useful for us or the pets. Well, the good thing when he goes into a diabetic coma is it’ll keep him inside.
Lil, many thanks for your hard work to keep us posted with the latest numbers. The above hit's closer to home. Our granddaughter is half Navajo. Her grandmother transports patients on the reservation.
“But the trickle of deaths continues, so that appears unlikely”
Somebody pointed that out to me on the South Korea numbers when it was 0.6%.
Still hoping, it does appear to be slowed down, SC is calling for Peak late April or early May now.
I posted that Fauch trigger ‘attaboy’, given to Jon Karl, on another thread.
Karl had, supposedly, given Fauch a salute.
Interesting exchange, to say the least.

Dr. Scarf, LOL. Those scarves are getting annoying.
You can order snax online.
I’ve got a cpl boxes from kroger in quarantine right now.
Also a small one of candy from SAMS. Not for me mind you, I’m still waiting for them to get almond flour back in stock to replace what I’ve used.

Great data—so young people clog up the health care system—and then survive—as we thought.
I wonder how many of the 85+ group in the ICU were death by triage. :-(
Hm, that is interesting. It is hard to make a determination too because being rural probably lessens your exposure a great deal as well.
Italy “only” about 3000 new cases lowest since 3-13
still 603 new deaths
their death curve and new case curve looks like it only has a gradual slope down
and they had a tighter lockdown then what the USA is doing
