A fire at a Florida airport destroyed more than 3,500 rental cars

A fire that spread through a grassy area of Southwest Florida International Airport has destroyed thousands of rental cars, fire department officials said.

The blaze began Friday, spanned 15 acres and originally involved only 20 cars in the grassy rental car overflow area at the airport in Fort Myers, fire department officials said.

But by the time it was extinguished, the flames had destroyed more than 3,500 rental cars, a Lee County Port Authority spokesperson told CNN affiliate WINK.

Melinda Avni, Mitigation Specialist for Florida Forestry Service of Caloosahatchee, said authorities were called to put out the fire around 5 p.m. Friday, when there were about 20 vehicles involved.

"By the time we had units on the scene, we had 100 cars (on fire). We lost count after the hundreds," she said.

This looks very much like deliberate sabatoge. This seems to be a Fourth Generation Warfare attack. Two Chinese high ranking military officers wrote a book called Unlimited Warfare which said such tactics as this, plus computer hacking, and biowarfare are in store for the US. I believe them. And Muslims stealing vehicles and running up on the sidewalks and mowing innocent people down is another.

Corona virus is another form of Fourth Generation War against not only the US, but the world.

Burning lots of cars in an accidental fire smells.

Not quite a National catastrophe, but it will cost us a pretty Dollar to make up for their impending Budget shortfall.

Maybe a criminal ENTERPRISE started the fire on behalf of the various rental agencies.

They probably only have 5 or 6 Engine companies in the whole city and the fire was getting it by the time the help got there from across town. The responders needed a lot of FF Foam to fight a large gasoline fire.that they didn’t have. It could have been Telsa batteries burning up.

My buddy’s late wife managed/co-managed the Hertz at Reagan National (or was it Dulles?) for almost two decades. I don’t think she ever drove a take-home vehicle older than six months most of her adult life. Talk about always getting the pick of the litter. The first time I ever saw a Nissan Murano was when they came by to visit one Christmas. It still had the temp tag on it. I drooled. I eventually bought the Rogue, the Murano’s smart-mouth little brother. Just paid it off.

That picture looks like a four alarm fire which is 12 to 15 trucks and the city of only had four total trucks available and two of them are on medical calls across town.

So, do you mean they maybe stored them there instead of in Miami, Tampa, or Orlando?

Maybe the owner or the insured paid a criminal enterprise to start the fire. When big dollars are involved, ya never know. Artie the arsonist would probably do it for cheap.

Most of Tampa’s car rentals used to be on site at the airport. Now you have to take a monorail train from the airport to the car rental area, that is over a mile away. Lots of people fly into Tampa, rather than Ft. Myers. Wouldn’t be surprised if they stored most of the cars in Ft. Myers.
