Great music.
Home at last is my personal favorite.
Became a fan the first time I heard that tune and have been ever since.
Hey Nineteen!
Walter Becker rips this one. May he Rest In Peace.

“My Old School” was the only tune I really loved from that band. But I’m a classical music fanatic so what do I know?
Aja. In my opinion, this is their best album.
Came out when the biggest focus in my life was my (first) girlfriend.
When I paid attention to the lyrics, I thought “that’s not my experience” and “my girlfriend’s nothing like that.”
Turned out she was, we just hadn’t got to the “reelin’ in the years” phase of the relationship, which happened in 1974.
One of my favorites.
Some people just got the gift. Becker and Fagen had it in spades. They were a duo who made the frustrated musician in me envious, talent-wise. Good band.
Great post!
One of the greatest debut albums ever, so many good songs on that one, obviously everybody knows “Do It Again” and “Reelin’ in the Years”
But there’s also: Dirty Work, Midnite Cruiser, Turn That Heartbeat Over Again, Kings....not a dud on the whole album.
Saw Steely Dan just about a year ago, well the members that are still around anyway. Nice show. If I recall they were touring with the doobie brothers. I didnt follow SD when I was young, but I heard their songs on the radio. I enjoy the hits more today than back then.
I love this song. I remember listening to this on am radio when I was rolling newspapers early in the morning for delivery as a paper boy when I was probably 13 or 14. One of those that has stood the test of time. Brings back a lot of memories now that the song rings true!
Go back, Jack, do it again.

There is a parallel there that others more adept in expression could flesh out beyond the symbiosis.
