Hundreds of Navy officers gathered on board the coronavirus-stricken USS Theodore Roosevelt's hangar deck to cheer for and applaud their commander, hours after he was dismissed.
Capt. Brett Crozier was relieved of duty on Thursday due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command and for not following the chain of command to voice his concerns about coronavirus on the ship to service leaders.
A video was posted to Michael Washingtons Facebook page, that has since been reposted on several platforms, along with the hastags #MYCO and #WEARETRSTRONG.
Thats how you send out one of the greatest captains you ever had, someone says in the video. The GOAT, the man for the people.
The ship docked a week earlier in Guam after several cases of coronavirus were reported aboard the ship. Crozier wrote a letter to senior military officials, which was leaked to the San Francisco Chronicle and published Tuesday.
The letter discussed conditions on the ship, particularly regarding the danger it posed to the sailors. Crozier warned that if we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset our sailors.

The captain blundered bigly.
I was never in the military but even I am aware of the concept of OPSEC.
We need more men like him.
His crew can love his leadership. That doesn’t mean he didn’t screw up badly in other ways not related to his running of the ship.
Any of these is a sin for which immediate relief can be expected. All at the same time??? Wow!
Anything that can be twisted into an attack on Trump...
He endangered his troops and national security by allowing his letter to become public knowledge. A major security blunder.
78 years ago, great admirals like Bull Hawlsey and Ray Spruins sailed in the same waters. This panty waist endangered the lives of his crew and a 3 billion dollar carrier by leaking a letter to his hometown newspaper. Good riddance.
No. We had a McClellan instead of a Grant.
But he violated security and could have put his crew and their vessel is harms way.
His heart was in the right place, but his job was to lead with his head, not his heart.
Had to look that up.
No. He endangered all of that because this panty waist did not have a strong and effective plan of action in place. He need to inform his superiors how he was marshalling the considerable resources he had to contain and control the problem while keeping the ship safe and operational, and needed to tell them what additional assistance he needed.
I need to send my sailors on vacation ashore was not a plan of action.
That's why his crew is cheering him.
If you think that's a blunder, we're really lucky that you never commanded anybody.
I was a mere department head. Had I written a letter like that Rickover would not have had to fire me because my CO would have, hoping to keep Rickover from firing my CO for having let such an incompetent officer hold a position of trust and responsibility.
He has been terminated for violating OpSec. He didn’t just send his concerns up the Chain of Command. He leaked his memo to the media.
That is totally unacceptable behavior for a JO. It is beyond unacceptable for the Commanding Officer of a nuclear Aircraft Carrier. He should be reduced in rank and discharged.
Not saying that he did not have a case to make but if Crozier was relieved for cause, I would not be cheering him.
If he didn’t inform his TF commander, how come SecNav and CNO sent out a joint press statement on the 23rd informing the world that the Roosevelt would continue with their mission despite the Covid casualties?
“If you think that’s a blunder, we’re really lucky that you never commanded anybody.”
Neither have you if you think it’s your job to put the vessel at risk.
