Its just the flu, bro.
A few discussion points for today:
1.The scientific findings of HSD (health-differentiated social distancing) which were discussed in yesterdays thread. To summarize - stop the social distancing/lockdown for the young and healthy - in fact the quicker they get infected the better, for purposes of developing herd immunity to protect the old.
2. Death count is overstated: As a fellow Flubro told me yesterday - people are dying WITH Coronavirus and not FROM Coronavirus. That is why the right hand side of the curve will be inflated relative to a normal viral spread curve.
3. Governments will use this to get more control over us - (see number 2 above - continuing a fake ongoing crisis is essential).
“Meanwhile Italys death/known case ratio has hit 12%.”
Can’t think of anything less relevant. Italy inflated their death count and doesn’t know their total cases, so their numbers are totally meaningless.
I know a guy who has died from coronavirus. Yes, it killed him. And yes, the regular flu could have killed him too. Or, if he had been in Europe, a HEAT WAVE could have killed him. As they regularly kill a LOT of Europeans!
And how many of these Covid deaths are the elderly? Cheese & Rice.
My response to them is this: We kill over 250 kids a year transporting them to and from school, yet we continue to do it. Why is that?
Rush Limbaugh now calling for the anonymous “modelers” to be outed and named. Good!
He called Impimp a hole where the doody comes out of.
Like it was the thing to do.
You want to kill Grandma...Grandpa.
There's no point in trying to reason, you know.
Here's something to chew on...the unemployment numbers are artificially low because the systems used to file are overwhelmed.
I need to make a ping list for the many Flubros who make solid arguments like yourself.
“You want to kill Grandma...Grandpa.”
What sort of weirdo freak are you?
It’s my tongue in cheek response to anyone who suggests less than total house arrest for the next five years.
Let me repeat what I posted earlier:
In the 1917-1919 H1N1 influenza pandemic, the government shut down public gatherings and limited people's movements. Unfortunately, back then, the measures were implemented late, and almost a million people still died in the US.
What if the measures had been instituted earlier? What would the effect on the economy have been if those people had not died? A quarantine has an end, but dead people do not come back.
Your number is overstated by about 325,000. Kind of a theme, isnt it?
Every person who is sick with Covid-19 infects, on average, 2.5 others. And no one except for the 225 thousand who have recovered is immune to it.
FYI, the testing is of people who may have been exposed. If they tested 1,000 and found 20 people who have it, that means that 20 people out of that 1,000 were exposed. It does NOT mean that there are thousands of people walking around who have it but it wasn't caught.
And another FYI--the process of disease transmission is a very well studied topic. Every government in the world, in fact, has teams of experts advising them on this topic. I used to be one of those experts, retired now. So I know about this topic.
No, testing includes only those with known risk of having it. Spouses of someone who is positive, or someone with symptoms. Not anyone who may have had a mild case, thought it was flu, and went on with their life.
So no, we don’t know the denominator!
Cracked me up, so to speak.
Even got a smirk out of the original McSack!
I have my moments.
Seldom, but they happen.
I have no idea on what the # of beds, etc stats are, dude, as I don’t work for the State Health department.
What I DO know is that there’s been non-stop news coverage of overflowing hospitals here (due to COVID patients), and that my 5 or so family members that work directly in those hospitals report war-like conditions, running out of ventilators, oxygen, anesthesia, etc. One nurse even reported her hospital is out of TYLENOL. Yep, TYLENOL.
One of our health systems also wrote up a not so warm and fuzzy memo detailing criteria for getting a vent - or NOT getting a vent. It was chilling, and freaked the bajeebus out of people. (They didn’t write this for fun..they wrote this because they were running out of ventilators).
YOUR state may be just fine and ducky - I have no idea. OUR state just had nearly 2,000 new confirmed cases today.
WE are screwed. Partly because too many people did not take this seriously. Just today, I read reports of a local golf course that is officially closed, yet people thought it’d be just fine to go there anyway and hang out in small groups (really, REALLY stupid) as it was a nice, warm spring day here. The local police had to do a helicopter flyover and announce over bullhorn that those people would be arrested if they did not leave. People are NOT taking this seriously - and it is freaking spreading like WILDFIRE here.
Are you relatives in NY?? Because I an in CA. and we have NOTHING going on hospitals not on over load 10,000 cases in a population of 40 million this whole damn thing is absolute BS!! This virus is attacking people very hard with diabetes AND pre diabetes elderly and immune compromised!!
I apologize, I did not mean to be offensive. I thought you would recognize the spirit in which it was said. I assumed.
