U.S.Teachers at government schools have raised their concerns that the recent closure of their institutions will have a damaging effect on students. In particular, the nation's educators are worried that the longer the schools are closed, the more likely it is that students will begin thinking for themselves, learn life skills away from the government school system, and realize how much more they learn at home.
"We must reopen as soon as possible -- before they regain their ability to have independent thoughts," said New York 4th-grade teacher Ms. Jenny Mudd. "This is an urgent crisis. We realize we have to do our part to prevent the spread of the virus, but we must also prevent the spread of unapproved ideas. There's a balance there."
"Reopen the schools before it is too late."

It has to a real fear of our publik skoolz.
BB has been spot on lately.
Babylon Bee -- for when hoarders have completely stripped your local store of Babylon A.
The longer the schools are closed, the better chance for turning out a few Republicans.
As the parent of a 36 yo who was home schooled, I will tell you it’s not really satire.
PC Principal and (not) “strong woman” vice principal are worried.
Homeschooling ping.
....and yes, I know the Bee is satire. It’s still beautiful.
So they just closed the schools here in the entire state of Georgia, even in counties that have no cases! So, the wife is livid that the teachers are still getting paid since she is now teaching our three middle and high school aged kids. I told her I had a place for her to vent and rant on FR. Oh and by the way, she is a wedding planner and 100% of her upcoming events have been cancelled!
“I want our cap & gown money back! I want our athletic fees returned! I want a refund on AP courses I paid for! I want our prom tickets refunded! and finally “I WANT MY PROPERTY TAXES REFUNDED for these schools, teachers, and parks that are now all closed that I PAID FOR!!!!”
Thank you FR for providing a platform for us to vent! Yes, I do believe the time for venting is going to escalate soon:)
bttt
You sure this is Satire? It could have been on the Front Page of the NY Times, actually it Should be, because it is TRUE!!
I’ve worked in higher ed in a staff job and deployed computers in K-12.
Truth from the Bee.
What she fails to understand is that while you are expected (and fully able to do so in the government’s opinion) to live/do with less in a crisis, it is impossible and immoral to expect the same of the government.
If I can’t pay my property taxes - non working teachers must be paid ya know - the county will take my home and sell it to fund the paychecks of the non working public school employees.
I’m self employed, my business and income has fallen to zero because I can’t conduct business. The school system “business” has fallen to zero but because the government can literally confiscate my/our money its employees will still get paid. This is immoral.
Thank you for no satire flag. It makes it more fun.
Well, yeah! :^) Everyone’s homeschoolin’ whether they want to or not, in MIchigan, while we taxpayers continue to pay the NEA/MEA.
