Flubros day 13! (Flubros/bras only)

It’s just the flu, bro.

Worldometer’s Coronavirus website is very useful - Italy‘s deaths appears to be on the decline. We aren’t that many days behind them - some experts say somewhere between 1-2 weeks behind.

What could we have done differently? State and local jurisdictions take their lead from the CDC. The CDC should have recommended the old and those with weakened immune system isolate themselves and let everyone else live their lives. The vulnerability of the old and already sick to Coronavirus was well known for many weeks. If the healthy live their lives normally then the healthy would develop immunity and the herd immunity (which protects the vulnerable) would kick in much faster. Sweden especially seems to be going this route. We will see how many more or fewer deaths they have compared to everywhere else.

This will, when we look at the death count in the end, be similar to a flu season.

Agree. Even our small town grocery are running our of items. Not sure how the big cities are faring during the hoaxdemic but civil unrest is around the corner if not already happening and not being reported

My wife and I didn’t really panic at first, but we’ve decided it’s time to do a Costco run, even though they are 90 minutes away from us.

My wife and I intentionally avoided “panicking” over this. However, we’re seeing what our fellow Americans are doing now. Too many think it is the “end of the world as we know it”. So my wife and I have no choice but to do a costco run today to ensure we’re not in dire straights after the civil unrest begins.

Fortunately we live in the sticks, and have a good “natural” food supply. But still, we need to be somewhat prepared to handle the climate the MSM seems to be at least a little bit successful at creating.

We’re not going to go nuts at costco, but we need to do our normal stock up a bit early.

“The mortality rate of the seasonal flu vs CV19 can certainly be calculated, but the lethality difference can’t be accurately determined without a controlled study.”
You can’t do a “controlled study” of lethality of diseases - you can’t intentionally expose 1000 people to covid19 and 1000 to regular flu just to find out which group dies at a higher rate.
I think this study establishes the mortality rate of Covid19.
Estimated case mortality is about 1.3, infection mortality (taking into account those whose had mild or no symptoms) is about .7%. For flu it is accepted that the infection mortality is less than .1%, but if you have evidence otherwise please provide a link - and not to a newspaper article or blog post from “impimp”

I hope and pray they are right too but Europe brings it more into perspective. My state is projected to need less than 400 additional ventilators and we are set for hospital beds/icu beds if mitigation continues to work and it does seem to be working. Without mitigation we would have run out of beds and ventilators already if the models are to be believed and looking at Europe they are within the bounds of being realistic. Only a bit fewer are going to get it but many will survive who would not have because it is not all at once and there will be care available for them.

F’in Chinese owe the world several pounds of flesh. They are still lying about their numbers by several orders of magnitude. Looks like more than 40K dead in Wuhan alone. Bastards let loose this demon on the world.

Anthony Fauci at this point has equivocated, hedged, and changed his story so often, what else are we supposed to think?

So if I call you a dumb arrogant SOB it wont be the first time you hear it today and I could have made that comment at 8am and it still would have been true.

I actually like the east coasters but you are a bunch of dumb arrogant SOBs for the most part.

I don’t know. Half a percent of the Staten Island population has it. We have 400,000 people.

Big elsewhere but small compared to the other boroughs.

One difference is we are more the burbs than urban

I’m betting a lot of the cases are coming from the projects on obama’s sons’ side of the island.

Also, we are not nearly is reliant in terms of SNAP an welfare and housing as the other boroughs are so we do our own thing and for the most part ignore the two big mouths running things.

I really only give Manhattan a thought when I see it mentioned on here.

I worked there and had good times there for many years.

It is a different place now but I feel a kneejerk urge to defend it.

I need to get my knee checked out lol

My daughter and I went to Costco yesterday. It was crazy. First a line to get in, standing on hashmarks 6 feet apart. Once in the store, after a 10-minute wait, we found that prices were slightly higher than normal, and they were out of things like ground beef chubs, toilet paper, paper towels, and Lysol wipes. In some cases, it was “1 to a customer.” It was quite surreal. Good luck on your Costco journey.

This isn’t about the illness anymore. This is about people wanting to stay home and not work and get free sh*t.

The polidiots are taking advantage of a country that is begging not to work and to be told to stay home. The population of couch potatoes couldn’t care less what is happening around them since staying home is all they care about right now.

I’m out in the sticks too. Have not seen another human for 15 days so far. Might run out of groceries by Christmas. Only enough fuel on hand for 8 months if the power lines go down. Might have to pluck a chicken if things get too tough or go to the pond and catch a a catfish. Will be canning more garden stuff this year.

Only thing I am missing is a live in massage therapist.

My concern is that if the lockdown’s don’t ease up in a week or two at the most, civil unrest kicks in. And that can ramp up a lot faster than this virus.

I expect rioting in the summer or near the election from the gibsmedat crowd. Dems and Fake News will egg them on by say POTUS isn’t doing enough, doesn’t care, is racist, etc. And up in flames our cities will go.

Hospitals not NEAR to overflowing.

Hospitals in my area of Florida are CUTTING hours for staff. Of course, Wu Flu hobbyists will just tell us that is good planning.
