So, I perused CDC site devoted to 2019-2020 flu rates, they are dropping like rocks, along with mortality rates. Meanwhile, the same population groups are suffering badly from covid19; is there any connection? I mean, are not the same folks who would suffer worst and possibly die from complications from the flu strains, suffer worst from covid19 as well? Is there an equilibrium if these two hazards after it is all over and done?
22k Americans died from flu this season so far, a bad season. When does the shift from flu to covid19 equate to a comparative total or are we really going to see 200k+ people dead from covid19? Hmmm.
I wouldve never let my baby leave my sight
The hygiene and social distancing widely adopted to lessen exposure to COVD-19 also lessen exposure to the flu. Since COVID-19 is so phenomenally more contagious than the flu, it is spreading like wild even as flu transmission is diminished.
We will see a CornaBaby boom soon!!
If there were no longer a China, would we still have an annual flu bug, seemingly a different, more virulent one each year?
SARS-CoV-2 is a novel virus. Nobody had immunity to it. For that reason its able to spread at a time that other respiratory viruses begin to wane.
A good analogy is that its a wildfire in a forest that hasnt been managed, and drought conditions present
” But I do hope that we all remember to wash our hands more and not to touch our faces!”
Touch a Democrat’s face instead.
Are people dying OF COVID19 or WITH COVID19 ?
Dying OF C-19 is pretty clear. But so is dying WITH C-19. In the latter case you have people with co-morbidities like diabetes and pulmonary issues - co-morbidities that they were living with until C-19 cake along and pushed them into an early grave.
As to flu being called C9, that is unlikely. We have very good and plentiful tests for the flu, and flu-like symptoms with a positive flu diagnosis is nearly a sure sign of the Kung Flu. There is no confusing the two - it would have to be deliberate falsification of records, which is a bailable often enough.
This isn’t Red China and even there doctors tried to tell the truth. Do you believe these docs and nurses5 in ERs and ICUs are just reporting what they are told to report. If that were to be true this country is so far gone it would not be worth saving
Why is Washington state NOT testing 100% of the patients with those symptoms?
Unknown - since we do more COVID-19 tests per capita than any other state in the country. 65,000 tests, as of last Friday.
Last week, I was browsing through Departments of Health in various states. One them - I think Connecticut - has the official state policy to “assume” that all cases of respiratory infection are related to COVID-19.
I have no idea if they are reporting their numbers that way.
My new avenue of curiosity is HOW causes of death are recorded.
Theres a very interesting series of articles by a Dr. John Lee, writing in the UK spectator, about exactly this.
He explores the possible reasons why Italy has a death rate for COVID-19 that is 10X that of Germany.
Thats one hell of a 4 qtr.
...and flu-like symptoms with a positive flu diagnosis is nearly a sure sign of the Kung Flu.
Uh, NEGATIVE flu diagnosis...
LOL
Your number is too low.
According to the CDC...
24,000 to 62,000 - From October 2019 to late March 2020.

LOL! Sorry, I can't help from laughing!
I read not long ago that their tests couldn’t differentiate between the flu and the coronavirus...Maybe they’re counting the flu as the new virus...
Did they actually all die of the flu or did some justhappen to have the flu when they died?
A FB friend and her whole family has been house quarantined for “COVID”, but not a single one has been actually tested.
Her doctor “diagnosed” them all based on “symptoms”.
They will not give the test to anyone in the family.
also anecdotally, I had a patient, a youngish woman, who came in either January or early February....she could not get off of oxygen for the longest time....tested negative for flu...had a harsh cough....I just wonder now if she actually had covid..
