Locked up: No masks, sanitizer as virus spreads behind bars
Associated Press ^ | March 28, 2020 | Robin McDowell and Margie Mason

Something was wrong. The chow hall line at New York’s Rikers Island jail had halted. For three hours, the men stood and waited, without food, until a correctional officer quietly delivered the news: A civilian chef was among those who tested positive for the coronavirus.

“We was like, ‘What? The cook?’” said Corey Young, who spoke to The Associated Press last week by phone from Rikers. He and others wondered if the chef had sneezed on trays or into the food. Some men later floated the idea of a hunger strike to protest.

“I don’t want to eat nothing that comes from the state,” Young said. “They are not going to take care of us properly here.”

Health experts say prisons and jails are considered a potential epicenter for America’s coronavirus pandemic. They are little cities hidden behind tall fences where many people share cells, sit elbow-to-elbow at dining areas and are herded through halls to the yard or prison industry jobs.

They say it’s nearly impossible to keep 6 feet away from anyone, adding to tensions. Medical services behind bars have long been substandard and even hand sanitizer is considered contraband in some facilities because of its alcohol content. …

My first thought was how many of these people vape? Or smoke?

They should have thought of this before they committed their crimes.

Let’s not be silly.

So a hardened criminal or two rapes and kills your daughter.

That’s not a reason to be racist, or to hold sub-standard beliefs.

The important thing is to keep your eye on the gradual, progressive improvement of society through social reform and redistribution of wealth.

And if you’re not yet ready to embrace these simple principles, you should be arrested for hate speech.

See? Simple! And everyone feels better.

I am, by the way, terribly sorry about the girl, but we all know that what happened to her was a harmless act of physical retaliation for the evils of your race.

Absorb that while I rename your streets.

Unless your health is compromised, it’s NOT a Death Sentence.

And if you’re in prison, waiting FOR your Death Sentence, let me introduce you to my little friend, KARMA! ;)

With the cure being kept from us, sooner or later there won’t be anyone to run the jails and prisons. The solution may not be to let them out, but just leave them inside behind locked doors.

If my idea for prisons had been adopted, Coronavirus and a plethora of other problems would have been eliminated.

Individual cells.

No need for contact with other human beings. No murders, no fights, no drugs, no assaults, no escapes, fewer guards, a TOTALLY “controlled” environment. Controlled by guards NOT the prisoners.

Uncooperative inmates to be PUNISHED! TAZED, water cannon, no TV, no, radio, no books, no letters, no NOTHING until they comply.

ITS PRISON, not some social club.

A toilet, a shower, a bed, food, water, and air. What more do CRIMINALS need?

On good behavior they could get books, TV, radio, computers, etc. (with restrictions of course).

Exercise you say? How about push ups, crunches, squats, no equipment required.

I would think of all places it would be possible to control COVID-19 would be prisons.

“My first thought was how many of these people vape? Or smoke?”

Or smoke pot? Good thinking truthkeeper! Keep those thought rolling in search of the truth.

(funny how fear porn programming never breaks that down for us....it’s like we DECIDE what to report, so that you can decide)
