New data released by the Louisiana Department of Health Friday shows that most of those killed by the coronavirus statewide had some form of pre-existing medical condition.
The department says 95 percent of the 83 people killed as of Thursday had underlying conditions. The most common among them was Diabetes, with 41 percent of the victims having the disorder. Another 31 percent had Chronic Kidney Disease.
State officials said Friday that 119 people had died from the virus. No additional health information on those confirmed dead since Thursday is available at this time.

when they finally release pertinent info, we see almost everyone that dies from this is old and/or infirm. the exact same two categories most at risk for just about everything.
I think after mid April, life should get back to normal for many Americans and the elderly and those with preexisting conditions should be our focus.
Those who come into contact with them should be exceedingly cautious.
I do think this has been overblown but I don’t want the elderly and sick dying either.
So we quarantine for a month by mid april and then take care of the most vulnerable.
And then sit at the mailbox and wait for our checks.
Trump has a plan coming out Monday that will put the first foot forward.

The next steps will be data driven. There is a lot more data since last week. Daily death are rising fast. It was under 50/day a week ago, and will exceed 1,000/day within a few days. I don’t think there will be significant relaxation next week.
It did not help New Orleans that they failed to heed the COVID-19 warnings and held the Mardi Gras Parade and festivities. That seeded the population with the infection. Then, when St. Patrick’s Day concerns for infection cancelled New Orleans’ Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, celebrants filled the bars in the French Quarter anyway. The COVID-19 grew on the fertile ground of denial. Once the virus was in full march, it entered the senior care centers with a lust for death. Louisiana ranks as the third in the top states for COVID-19 deaths.
You would say the same recklessness for the virus in Loisiana, was the same for the Communist Chinese who failed to take action in the Wuhan Wet Market when its potential for contagion flashed like a K-Mart Blue Light Special.

I have hypertension and cholesterol issues. But they are well controlled with medications. I have a healthy diet, am about 12% body fat at age 60 and have a 6 day exercise regimen.
I’m sure they would classify me as having underlying health issues but the reality is I’m quite healthy.
Lets face it we are not healthy, many due to no fault of their own, many due to the life style they choose to lead. This is a great awakening on may fronts, lets hope that we took the time to look inside, look around us and decide to make changes for the better moving forward

Bullshit. Not every one will be old. A huge number of Americans are either overweight and or have some combination of hypertension DM or heart disease. Lots of people in their 30s 40 s and 50s fit description.

I have a feeling this disease is going to be especially rough for the southern states. Not a region known for being particularly healthy in the best of times. They’re not as urbanized as a lot of places though, so they have that going for them.
All people will wind up dying from Covid....it’s stupid. Someone gets run over by a car but tests positive for Covid - cause of death Covid.
