Just saw it and underwhelmed with it too. For all it was propped up to be it doesn’t make my top 10 war movie list. As far as WW1 movies go war horse was way better.

Their WWI section is incredible...

I second that.

The Imperial War Museum is the British Empire's war attic.

The last time I was there, about 30 years ago, they had a display showing trench life. You could actually walk a section of simulated trench, with lifelike sounds and, yes, smell. Whatever earthy smell they had coming out of a can was very evocative, but probably a thousand times less powerful than the real smells of war.

Compare what you just said with what the original poster said.
I’ll wait.

1917 sucked. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen in that movie but it never did.

I suppose he could have started another of the gazillion threads about the virus with either doomsday prognostications or “it’s just like the flu” dismissals.

Personally, I welcome any thread that seems completely unrelated to our current woes. The best thing about 1917? It was before 1918.

Thank you. Wayyyyy too many pointless music video threads here. Can't they just have their own forum the rest of us can unsubscribe from?

Dang straight akippy.

It was the best thing since the (first) invention of sliced bread.

and there is more.

I even got to buy a 12 roll package of quality toilet paper the day before.

Some animals are more equal than others. After all.

Four legs good, two legs better.

I enjoyed it. The cinematography was excellent. Some parts were obviously done for dramatic effect, but I thought they did a good job of showing how dirty and grim a war in the trenches could be.
