The Royal Family gets tested, while this obviously seriously ill young lady does not (until after she is dead).

I still have to disagree with you. There are a lot of very dense housing in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens; as such, there would be a lot of close contact between people even before getting on public transportation. It’s a wonder how Hong Kong with its even denser housing per square mile managed to avoid a major medical disaster.
In Hong Kong they learned social distancing from SARS which was tougher to get, but it would kill you.
They dont need to be taught twice.
****** Alert
16 % of all diagnosed Cov-19 in Ohio, are currently health care workers
Now, with NY representing 40% of all US deaths as of 3/24, does it: (a) represent a model for the entire country; (b) or target for emergency resource allocation? Note that it's a trick question, because NY lags the entire US by 15 days from the first recorded death. That is, it's a lagging, not leading, indicator.
Moreso, NY vs USA as a whole expressly demonstrates specificity of the disease, one that shares an interesting relationship with both Lombardy & Wuhan. Anyone care to take a guess? Secondly, anyone still curious about why the rest of the US is going to be freed from the 15 emergency order, while NYC will remain on high lock-down?

A friend’s wife is a nurse in CA.
They have all been told they are NOT to wear masks anywhere besides ER area designated for Covid intake.
Or they will be fired on the spot.
WTH?
Well, New York City has a very large expatriate Chinese population, especially in Queens and the southern tip of Manhattan.
If I were out of work, I would still give 1/10 of it away and then keep the rest for the time being.
If you can open your window, do so and let the breeze flow and take some of the virus out with it.
Report from NYC:
Streets empty, a siren every now and then, lots of businesses obviously suffering with two signs in the window: WE ARE HIRING! and CLOSED.
The doorman gave me the report from the neighborhood: no one ill in our building of 90 apartments (that we know of, of course), one person ill three buildings down, people in our building from a synagogue that had to be tested are all negative.
Everything still pretty much available. Hand sanitizer signs are back up, along with the others for TP and masks. People observing the 6-foot rule, walking out into the street so as not to walk too close to you.
I’m glad the governor gave out that mental health volunteer number. Some people are going to need it before this is over.
In general, New Yorkers glad for an opportunity to show they care about one another.
We know what happened in NYC, when it happened, and how it happened.
The very first New Rochelle positive commuted to Grand Central Station for several days before he was identified.
Grand Central Station is one of the busiest train stations in the world, tightly packed with commuters from CT, NY and NJ, who then went to work in Manhattan and spread it to co-workers, friends, and family.

“In general, New Yorkers glad for an opportunity to show they care about one another.”
I was believing the report for the most part until you said this.
