Feminist attorney Gloria Allred criticized Texas leaders Monday for including elective abortions in their restrictions on non-essential medical care during the coronavirus crisis.
Allred told Your Content News that the decision by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton is “reprehensible” because women may “need” abortions.
“It is reprehensible that the Governor and Attorney General of Texas have used the COVID-19 pandemic to attack some of the most vulnerable women in Texas who need access to a safe, legal and affordable abortion,” Allred said.
But abortions are not being singled out. Texas and a number of other states have limited many medical procedures to help prepare for the pandemic. Doctors and hospitals are concerned about a lack of supplies and equipment to treat people with the virus, and the governors’ temporary restrictions are one way to ensure that medical resources are being devoted to saving lives.
Abortions destroy unborn babies’ lives, and almost all are elective. Texas, Ohio and Louisiana leaders included elective abortions in their restriction orders, though Ohio abortion facilities are refusing to comply.
Ignoring the real reasons for the restrictions, Allred claimed politicians are just using the crisis to “win political points” with pro-life voters.
“It appears that these politicians are acting in an opportunistic manner in order to win political points with their anti-choice constituencies who believe in mandatory motherhood and restricting a women’s reproductive choices about her own body,” she argued.
Responding to her accusations, Paxton’s office told the news outlet: “No one is exempt from the governor’s executive order on medically unnecessary surgeries and procedures, including abortion providers. Those who violate the governor’s order will be met with the full force of the law.”
Allred encouraged someone to file a lawsuit challenging the order.
“Women who are young, poor, and live in rural areas, and women who may have already contracted COVID-19, may be in need of abortions,” she claimed.
But women do not need to abort their unborn babies. Abortions kill unborn babies’ lives and put mothers at risk, too. Common complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it simply is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth. Mothers who cannot get abortions are not unhealthy as a result. They become mothers of newborn babies.
Texas, Ohio and Louisiana leaders are saving lives by putting a temporary halt to abortions. Their orders protect both the born and unborn by stopping abortion facilities from killing unborn babies and harming mothers in unnecessary procedures. In doing so, they also are conserving much-needed medical supplies for those who really need them.

So basically they are now counting abortions as an emergency procedure, because they are saying it’s not elective. Seriously? There are probably thousands of people that were on the books for a cardiac cath that have been postponed. There is nothing more important with these people than killing babies.
On a practical level, and it is odd discussing practical when we are discussing the murder of children....
There is a guy at work now with a tooth abscess. He cannot get it fixed, he’s on pain killers, and has to wait. His life will be hell for the next few months, but it isn’t “life-threatening”. But when it is allowed, he WILL NEED to have this taken care of, it isn’t curing itself.
Meanwhile, the typical woman with a pregnancy will not suffer any serious medical issues, and will not be in any particularly bad pain. And if they do NOT get an abortion during the 9 month “window of opportunity”, the body will self-remove the baby. That process may be painful, although I understand they are considering epidurals as necessary, but I imagine c-sections are not being allowed at this time as a choice, only when necessary....
IN other words, after 9 months, the “medical condition” will cure itself, and the woman will no longer be pregnant.
Abortion is one of the few operations we do that, if you don’t do it, the problem solves itself. In almost every other case, doctors will refuse to do an operation, if the underlying condition is temporary.
