Angry locals in towns and villages all over the UK have put up signs demanding that second home owners leave and return to their city properties amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Londoners and people living in big cities all over the UK are flocking to the seaside and their second homes to escape the virus, drawing the ire of locals.
Now, furious locals in St Ives, Cornwall have scrawled messages on the beach demanding second home owners leave.
An even more furious sign has appeared in Bala, north Wales, which says 'Go home rats'.
It come as the government urged people not to head to the countryside or to holiday homes, with fears that they could be spreading the virus throughout the nation.
However, despite their pleas, government commands and Boris Johnson imposing a UK-wide lockdown, second homers are remaining defiant and continuing to flock to the countryside in their droves.

I understand the feelings of the locals, but the people with the summer homes do bring much needed income during the summer.
Similar here except we say "go home democRATS".
The locals should leave for their second homes to avoid being infected. /s
well F the locals. Presumably the locals sold the properties to the others. If they didn’t want people coming they should have bought the properties themselves. I reiterate F’em
At they not paying property taxes there on their own homes?
I agree. It’s not like they’re pitching tents on the beaches and sidewalks like they’re in S.F.
These people own property there, they have every right to reside there.
Surf Cuty, NC just kicked out all short term renters
My wife and I are at our second home in Payson. We left Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix, in order to quarantine. So far, we have had no contact with locals, other than by phone.
I see that “Local” crap in Hawaii all the time.
F/... you killed Cptn Cook, I’ll never forgive you, I’ll be back and pee in your snorkel areas as I wish in retaliation.
History shows the European elite/gentry fleeing from the cities to their country homes every time there is a plague/epidemic-they’ve done it for centuries, with no regard for those lesser common people-nothing new there...
Ok, you pay my property taxes for me and I’ll stay away.
Used to live in Glendale. Downtown theater was 25 cents.
BS ... the only thing the out of towners bring is congestion and inflated prices. The only businesses that profit from them are those that cater to them and those in the real estate industry. I have personally seem three pleasant and quaint resort towns RUINED by the mass influx of seasonal visitors. Towns have had to limit the number of vacation rentals ... locals being pushed out by ever increasing property costs ... infrastructures and services are overwhelmed by seasonal over population ... quality of life destroyed by the locusts that are these visitors. To make it even worse ... many of these visitors forget that they are guests in their host towns and act like they own the place. They have the attitude that we locals should kiss their asses for their dollars.
There are things this article hasn't addressed that shore towns have to deal with. Its not just a "don't come down here and infect us".
In the off-season, many of the businesses, including liquor stores, restaurants, bars, stores etc. close down because the year round population can't sustain the volume of businesses that operate "in-season". Even the grocery stores cut way back on what gets put on the shelves, what is brought in for fresh fruits/veggies/meats etc.
Unless you live year round in a shore community, you probably don't think of things the way the locals do. Any substantial non-seasonal increase in demand overruns the normal supply of goods and services. On the other hand, staying where they have their permanent residences, the infrastructure of goods and services is built to accommodate them there.
So while you may say F'em, there are legitimate reasons for the locals to feel the way they do.
Next move, nocturnal arson raids on Summer home cottages
Watch for it
Isn’t Payson where the beautiful red rock bluffs are? Or, is that Sedona? I lived there 45 years ago, and can’t remember. The mountains are great though!
Tribalism will increase.
I live in a quant town in New Hampshire with many second homes . Locals here were complaining to me about it and I said we could all use a diet if they buy up all the food. Pretty ridiculous, these people pay property taxes to run our town and dont have children in the school. Besides the fact this bs pandemic is being way over blown so the Democrats can have a better shot with slow joe. I dont even believe the count of the people they say have died. Thats how much I trust the news that said we elected a Russian agent. Its all BS. 7500 people die a day in America Im sure they are counting anything they can as a commie cough death.
That already happens.
