Yes, Florida has flamingos. I’m cutting up some fruit and vegetables for the trip, because we’re bound to want them at some point.

That makes me want some fruit so I’ll put it on my list for Tuesday. I can pick up one of those little tubs of cut-up melons and that way, I’ll eat it before it begins to go bad.

I ordered a “chew toy” for Camilla, but it hasn’t arrived, yet, and she is so bored. Probably Terrible Two’s in human life. She’s just one of those critters who learns, then get bored by the mastery and wants to learn something else. I’ll see that she has other toys to chew on in the future, as well.

Kathleen and Frank have been watching “Secrets of the Zoo,” about animal care at the Columbus Zoo. One of the things the keepers have to do is invent new activities and creative ways of providing food for the animals, so they don’t get bored.

I’ve seen that show along with several others made for those people who aren’t adults, and they’re quite informative. I’ve learned a lot from watching them.

I’ve dealt with old birds and abused and/or disabled birds, and having a young healthy bird isn’t exactly new to me, as most rescues have at least a year’s growth, but this is the first time I’ve had a very young healthy bird in a very long time, and I’m learning how to be a Bird Mom all over again.

She likes strings, so I just ordered a string toy from the store in St George (cheaper than driving there) and with luck, it will be here Monday. I hope that and the paper toy help her. I can swap them out if it seems she’s bored with one.

Last night, we saw the one where the cheetah had kittens. Very cute, and it was also interesting to see that they were socializing the kittens with dogs.

I’ve seen several shows, geared to children, on socializing animals with other animals that might be prey or predator in natural settings. Amazing what can be done when one wants to change the natural order of things for the better. However, with wild animals, I don’t think the “wild” can ever be “tamed” out of them, and think they should be respected for what they are, no matter the setting.

Cheetahs have rather doggy personalities. I think the point was the cubs wouldn’t get enough exercise with just the two of them and the mom, so the dogs were extra playmates.

A lot of thought has gone into the pairing, obviously. But dogs aren’t necessarily “prey” to any animal to my knowledge, but I see them as rather, a buffer between species. Which may be the thinking behind the project.

Totally off the subject, but:

The office of the First Presidency (not to be confused with the office the POTUS) has just announced that we are to resume weekly Sacrament meetings, according to local conditions! With any luck, I’ll going to church tomorrow!

*happy dance*

Very exciting!

We’re planning to all go to Mass this evening, except Pat, who will be at work. DP and I have been nearly every week, because of the Spanish music, but we haven’t been taking the youths.

Yes, it is exciting! I’m just waiting for the email from the next person down the line to inform us of the times. We were going at 1030, but I don’t know if that will be changed. At any rate, it’s a good thing to look forward to!

Few children went to the services, and no seniors for a while, so having a full chapel will be a wonderful thing for all of us. And who knows? The next six months may find me with a speaking assignment! ;o]

I, for one, am very glad you Cheated Death Again! I mean, Favorite Daughter doesn’t like gray, and if I make one for me it will be in a smaller yarn, so yes. Also, I’m not particularly fond of flamingos, and... well, the list goes on, so I’ll be happy when Patrick gets his license. :o])

And don’t be too excited about me “speaking,” since I’ll have to ask you to play “editor” again! LOL!

I will be happy to tweak anything you prepare for a public presentation.

Patrick is getting plenty of lectures on “A Productive and Risk-Averse Adult Life” during his driving adventures.

On the bad-example front, Drama Queen stopped by this afternoon for a few minutes, en route to see her friend up the street. I was lying down with Jake and thought I heard her voice, but she was gone when I got downstairs, so I thought maybe it was a nightmare. Afternoon-mare. But DP said it was real; she was there when he and Tom got back from Walmart.

We saw her car parked at her friend’s house. It’s still got the expired South Carolina license ... not our problem.

Drama Queen was on my mind this afternoon, so I’m sorry if I conjured her. Please forgive me!!

She would be well-advised to get the vehicle registered. I don’t know what it’s like in NC, but at my sickest, when I had no money even for bus fare, and was less than three months away from homelessness, I was pulled over for expired registration. Because of it, I was slapped with a $1200 fine because the officer couldn’t get the plates off the car.

The plates had been super-glued because one day when I was at work about 18 months earlier, and parked in a lot across the street from the police station, plates were stolen off my car and my co-worker’s car which was right next to mine. She had just registered her car and at the time, I had about two months to go before I had to renew.

Had I not super-glued the plate, the fine would have been $120. It would be much higher than that, now! But I won’t tell her a thing. Some people have to learn the hard way that sometimes, life is just not fair!

She got a speeding ticket a few weeks ago - we got the solicitations from the lawyers - but I don’t know if they mentioned the registration. I guess the officer believed it wasn’t a stolen car, at least.

Not my problem.

However, I’m glad it occurred to me to emphasize to Pat that nobody and I mean nobody other than himself is to be here while the rest of us are gone. It’s like a just had a feeling ...

Morning kitteh is lookin’ fer trouble!

Good morning.

It looks like Friday the 13th comes on Sunday this month!

I slept in again. Oh, how I hate that!

It came to me that if Drama Queen was going to take advantage of any situation, it would be while you were gone and Pat was in charge. I truly hope he remembers to lock the doors, including the garage, when he leaves for work. She is a deceptive person and Pat is a pushover. </rant

Favorite Daughter began to text about 1500 and didn’t let up until after 1800 and when that happens, my night is ruined. Sleep not only doesn’t come easily but its interrupted. I’ll figure it out, because I can’t let this continue.

She sent me a photo of some beautiful beets that they picked up at the farmer’s market and wanted to know how to cook them. I told her and also mentioned beet greens with bacon and that was it. She was off and running. The simple recipe I gave her for beet greens and bacon became some elaborate gore-may dish with red onions, garlic and red pepper flakes. Unngh.

So it was 0415 when I woke up, cold. Very cold. Like I said, I’ll get it figured out. Now I need to go take a shower. No emails on whether we will have church today, so I’ll just plan on next week, because it’s the third Sunday.

I had a beet salad for dinner last night. I love beets. Maybe we’ll get some in South Carolina.

Enjoy the shower.
