I am calling official B.S. on this hoax of a "pandemic." We have been told by the "scientists" that hospitals would be overrun, the dead would be piling up, etc. Please post "on the ground" reports from your city/state. Are your hospitals overrun? Are healthy people dying? Any signs that a Bubonic Plague is among us?
Personally, I think Trump believes this whole thing is hysterical BS, too. His early comments downplayed the China Virus. I’m glad that Trump will get the credit. He doesn’t deserve it—nobody deserves any, as this is a hoax—but I’m glad he will get it. MAGA#
“their” way, thank you. I’m generally good on the spelling and grammar end of it, but it’s good of you to notice and I shall take care to do the same for you. I’m sure you address all the spelling and grammar issues that arise on FR when you don’t actually have an argument.
“Their” way is to blow off all the guidelines and restrictions and let what happens happen. Who cares about a few (hundred thousand) old coots when the economy is at stake?
iows, you come in with esophageal varies and test positive for covig, and then you bleed to death from the varices...its the covig that killed you ...NOT!
Huh. I went back and checked. Somebody must have edited my post because there isn’t a “they’re” way, it’s the correct “their” way.
Let me add a little perspectve.

are you this impassioned over aborted babies?...just wondering....
I’m here in AZ. Don’t know anyone infected.
As of two days ago, our infection rate was about 60, one death (over 50 with a lot of conditions). Wal-Mart has water, soft drinks, meat (though not tons), milk, Kleenex, still not TP or paper towels. Traffic in the store was quite normal. Later had to go to Fry’s for some picante sauce. Normal traffic. Same scenario. Most concerning thing was the canned soups/veggie aisles were pretty well picked over. Suggests to me Americans forgot how to cook. News report today said Papago Peak and other hiking trails were overrun (saw a photo: yep!). No parking to get on the hiking trails.
One think is certain: when this is over people will be a lot more fit. Oh, and TX shut down the abortion clinics, so it is “POSSIBLE” that the net impact of the China Virus is to save lives.
From all the stats we have in the US, this is a rather UNdeadly virus. Today’s death-to-infection rate dropped to 1.18 (steadily from 1.70 five days ago. This is as more and more infections are being exposed through testing. The more we test, the weaker this looks.
Wife knows an 80 yr old woman that got it a few weeks ago, she was hospitalized. Since released and is fine. Tacoma WA, there are no dead bodies on the street, I don’t see ambulances, hearses or military vehicles about...
I am spending time alone and need a puppy.
That 1.19% is right in line with the national average. Some people I communicate with on Twitter think the under-60 death percentage will be 0 within a week.
Thanks, Liz. That’s a chart I can have confidence in.
And since China and South Korea have had the most successful programs to deal with the crisis — and it started in those countries earlier, then I’ll guess 2.3 deaths per million (750 in the U.S.) is the threshold of pain. If we can keep it that low, we’re doing a reasonably good job.
Never mind that we had 80,000 deaths from influenza last year!
The cries are coming from people to get back to work. That’s natural and surest sign that the country as a whole is comfortable with the steps being taken.
Surely the DemRATS have trying to make a bloated crisis out of this than was warranted. That was their plan. It has failed because Americans want to get back to work.
Of course, the States will vary in their response. I’m hoping by end of March, Georgia will see the wisdom of cranking up the economy again. But we need masks in full production!
Understand the desire for more specifics..maybe Maryland is different from here, but I am NOT making this up.
OUR hospitals are being slammed. One family member reports that they are moving CV19 people from his hospital to another hospital in the same system because they are already over capacity at his location. There are no more beds, and no more vents. And many of their (dozens and dozens) of patients are in their 40s and 50s, not “elderly” or “with pre-existing conditions”.
Believe it, or don’t believe it. Makes zero difference to me. But the data I am sharing is 100% accurate and truthful.
And if you don’t believe me, just turn on your damned TVs and listen to Cuomo or any of the dozen plus other governors saying their HCSs are going to collapse very shortly, due to projected cases added to already existing patients. Oh, wait..I know..that’s all ‘fake news’..’designed to just get Trump by collapsing our economy’, “Dem governors that hate Trump”..etc.
Ya know, you don’t even need to do that. Go read the articles about N. Italy or France and what they are doing to triage “old” people. Over 60? No vent (or treatment) for you in N. Italy. Over 65? You lose your vent in Spain. THIS WILL HAPPEN HERE, AND HAPPEN SHORTLY.
FR USED to be a good site. But candidly, it’s lately gone to total crap with people that can’t even objectively asses basic facts without seeing a conspiracy or boogeyman behind every bush. It’s truly become a total and gigantic waste of time.
I won’t respond to your points specifically, but I will point out:
The Diamond Princess cruise ship (quarantined in Japan) had 3,000 mostly seniors as passengers. Less than 800 got the China Virus, and 7 died, all of whom had significant, underlying respiratory issues. That’s less than a 1% mortality rate of SENIOR CITIZENS who actually got infected. Keep in mind that some or all of the 7 dead would have survived had they had access to American hospitals. The bulk of the seniors who were infected had zero or minimal symptoms. A cruise ship is a great petri dish to study how deadly a virus is. It’s confined, and you have very little chance of “social distancing.” A 1% mortality rate on a senior-laded cruise ship (docked in Japan) equates to a VERY LOW mortality rate for Americans who have access to quick, responsive medical care.
“I want some of the drugs you are on! Yikes! What a drama queen.”
Can you actually refute his assertions?
I don’t completely agree with some of the conclusions - we are a hundred years past the Spanish Flu and that will make a huge difference, but even with all that, even today, this has a mortality rate in some countries comparable to the Spanish Flu’s.
I don’t see this killing 3 to 6% of the world’s population, not even close, but ONLY because of the extreme measures that *most critical factor* are keeping HCSs around the world from crashing.
Some speculation that some of the passengers had taken anti malaria drugs before the cruise if true that could skew the stats
Buffalo, Erie County NY-87 cases and a few in hospital no deaths that I know of.
Niagara County 10 cases all in quarantine. No deaths that I know of.
“Trust me, if Freepers were posting stuff like: My local hospital is being flooded with sick people who cant breathe, I might change my mind about this whole thing being an overblown hoax.”
One just did.
Pretty much sounds like a well controlled (by pure coincidence) experiment. And as a frequent cruiser, I can verify there a LOT of folks not in robust health as passengers, especially during calendar periods when school is in session, the passenger roster skews real old.
Get over yourself, dude.
You should go volunteer as a hospital valet or something. Go see for yourself if it’s bad. NYC neeeeeeds you!
If this thing were truly serious, the evidence would be empirical. It isn’t, this is a mf hoax like y2k.
This is an attack on the entire financial system of the world and has likely made some people billions, or tens of billions of dollars. When money is involved, TRUST NOBDODY. We’ve been HAD.
