Ground Reports on the "Deadly" China Virus, please...
Vanity | March 23, 2020 | Vanity

Posted on 03/23/2020 3:20:52 PM PDT by bort

I am calling official B.S. on this hoax of a "pandemic." We have been told by the "scientists" that hospitals would be overrun, the dead would be piling up, etc. Please post "on the ground" reports from your city/state. Are your hospitals overrun? Are healthy people dying? Any signs that a Bubonic Plague is among us?

And you’re a freaking Ostrich.

You might want to actually pay attention to some of the experts and what they are saying.

Oh, wait..I remember..YOU know better than all the experts.

Right.

You certainly raise some good points. But I have to comment on a couple of them:

1. Things won’t be worse a week from now. Someone is just dead wrong on that one but in 7 days we will know if that is you or me.

2. This was a pretty bad flu season. My daughter, wife and myself came down with the 28 Day Flu (my name). You cough, your nose runs, you’re tired but no fever. Very unlikely to be the CV in our case. I was lab tested and was told I had the common cold. I guess.

In any case I hope you optimists turn out to be right. It will be a pleasure to swallow my pride if that happens.

Let’s all go out and hold hands. Then let’s see if this spreads.

Kind of a silly rant that has no value.

Pull down your shirt over your belly.

Sit down.

And stay away from everyone for two weeks.

No one is asking you to “do” anything else.

When it is over, we can crown you king of the “I told you so’s.”

It’s fairly difficult to hide dead bodies. Take your pink hat off and consider the numbers we do know. 400 to 500 dead in the US. That’s a SMALL number in a nation of 330 million people. Even on the cruise ship the Diamond Princess, which had 3,000 seniors and only 7 deaths (all super-seniors/underlying problems), the mortality rate was less than 1%!! A cruise ship is a great petri dish to figure out how deadly a virus is. And a ship that was SATURATED with the China Virus only had 7 deaths, and some of those would have survived had they had access to American hospitals.

Albany GA is the center of sparsely populated SW Georgia. It hald 2 funerals with crowds hugging and kissing and crying and wiping eyse and nose.

95 cases and counting. Deaths are many. I can’t keep up with the count.

The Doctor at this evening’s briefing kept emphasizing personal responsibility. That includes going to crowded funerals where everyobody is expected to be emotional, crying, and embracing.

PS - curious how many family members YOU have working in healthcare systems currently. (I have more than 5).

If you’re honest (which I doubt you will be), they will tell you they are near capacity ALREADY (in inning 1 of a 9 inning game).

Our healthcare system is already maxing out. ACTUAL reports “on the ground” confirm this. And when we exceed capacity? Yeah..that’s when the tough decisions (about who gets a vent, and who doesn’t) start. Just like in N. Italy where no-one above 60 gets treated. Or, if you prefer, in Spain, where > 65 LOSES their vent if someone younger needs it - and that 65+ YO person dies.

But, go ahead. Keep that head in the sand, and keep singing “la la la la la la la” if it makes you feel better.

THIS JUST IN——excellent news coming out of Italy; the virus has continued to spread, but at a declining rate which reveals the claims of from idiots like Angela Merkl, and various left-wing American politicians that most of us will get sick

......nothing but a lot of hysteria designed to destroy markets and sow political destruction.......

There were fewer new infections in Italy than there have been in a week. This is not a data hiccup; there have been fewer new infections each day for four days now.

So for all the people who warn of the horrors to come, saying that what happens in Italy will soon happen here, because it looks like Italy is following the same type of curve that South Korea and, reportedly, China have followed, a curve that, for America, points to hundreds of thousands, but not hundreds of millions, of infections.

My dry cough burned the back of my throat. I could run on a treadmill for 30 minutes without issues, but I would become winded if I walked a flight of stairs. It was BIZARRE. Wife, employees, local teachers all had the same thing. And that was 8 weeks ago. BTW, the cough lasted forever, like 3 plus weeks.

“All of Italy’s dead are super-seniors/seniors with serious underlying health issues.”

Nope. Plenty of younger folks getting sick. The claim it’s an old people’s disease is based on the skewed demographics from the early cases and the fact that the weak die faster.

“I have read multiple reports that even before Covid19, if a super-senior was taken to an Italian ER with life-threatening conditions, they were “rationed” out of care. “

The Italian HCS crashed. For them, right now, 60 is “super-senior”. Not that they can really treat anybody right now.

“We don’t do that in the USA.”

Isn’t that what you are doing right now? Let’s get back to work and screw the useless old geezers. That’s even worse, actually. You are willing to actively endanger those useless eaters.

“China has 1.4 billion people, and they have 5,000 deaths. That’s a fairly small number of dead, considering that the flu kills tens of thousands of Chinese per year.”

As stated countless times on countless threads to countless FluBros, the Chinese numbers are bogus. Whether you believe the whistle-blowers from the Wuhan crematoriums or not (at least 200,000 dead), why did China tear up the roads and cordon off Wuhan with the military?

” I am not denying the existence of the China Virus and that, if contracted by an older person with serious respiratory issues it could be fatal. I question whether it is any more deadly than the flu or other pathogens that get passed around.”

The best results from any large scale infection is 13 times as deadly as the flu, at best. So even if it doesn’t crash our HCS once we let it have free reign, and somehow only the same number of people get it in spite of no vaccines or existing immunities, it will still KILL hundreds of thousands. That’s not a bad flu year, that’s a national disaster and will trash the economy by itself. And cost the next election. Neither of which is as important as the loss of lives, short term, but it seems paramount to some.

If you scale the age distribution for this thing to reasonable penetrance levels for the conditions that exist (like 70 to 90%) and overlay that on the population-age distribution for the US population, there won’t be many people over 75, or even 65, left. Saves Social Security and Medicare, I guess.

6,455 family members directly involved in ER work. 6,453 say they are seeing less activity than normal. The other 2 are quarantined on a cruise ship.

In January, I flew to Indiana for the death of my youngest sibling. Had terrible cough the whole time there with SOB, but took my inhaler, which was of no use. Came back to GA and the DR said I had bronchitis, gave me albuterol for breathing treatment and it went away almost overnight! Of course, it was warmer in GA (I live Way south GA) than in Indiana. On the flight to Indy, the guy sitting behind me made me nauseous the whole trip. I was wearing my N95 respirator mask (a’m an RN at a prison where they use gas to subdue inmates who refuse to comply with the rules and give the staff a lot of lip), so this was a good mask. I could still smell the putrid nasal mucous of the guy behind me! I was so glad to get off that plane! Maybe I actually had this, as well! But no one coming into contact with me got sick.

what we really need to know is who is actually sick?....and how many people on average have to be in the hospital.....I suggest very few.....

now old people get admitted all the time when they get rhinovirus or flu...why?...because they have no one to help them at home...that is the main reason....probably true about covig as well.....

Numbers out of our state are over FORTY PERCENT in ICU under age 50. I’ve personally confirmed much of that with family members working in the hospitals.

Oh, I know..the FluBros / Ostrich Brigade will claim “FAKE NEWS!!” “Democrat Governor!!!”, “It’s just a plot to get Trump!!”, etc.

Sigh..it’s really getting old. Guess it’s a major denial reflex that some people just can’t get over.

The purpose of my post was to gather intel from the tens of thousands of Freepers who go to this site. The consensus from around the country is that all is quiet. The local hospitals in Maryland are not experiencing any onslaught of patients. Your claim is that you have family members who work in local medial systems who are telling you that hospitals are being overrun. I’m willing to be convinced, but you need to disclose WHICH hospitals, WHAT cities, etc. Thank you.

I think the best stats to look at are here:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/03/21/upshot/coronavirus-deaths-by-country.html
In the first graph (Deaths by Country) all of the countries shown, except for US and perhaps France, are showing a definite flattening of the curve. Even Italy and Spain. (Of course you can take Iran’s and China’s with a grain of salt, but the others are probably fairly accurate.) In regards to the US, its numbers are still low, especially when you consider the per capita numbers. So there’s still a decent chance it will also start to flatten soon.

In the second graph (Deaths by State), NY and California are still straight, but Washington, which has been a problem the longest, is showing a good trend. NY and California also have huge populations, so you must consider per capita numbers, will hopefully improve soon. But maybe they need to keep restrictions a little longer than others. And states like Florida need to be watched. I think all this shows we need to consider the different states separately, just like the countries.

Finally, as others have pointed out, we may be over-counting CV deaths, but it’s probably best not to assume that that’s a major factor just to be safe. And I think we’ll see soon how effective the malaria medicines are.
