Fear of a societal breakdown amid the coronavirus pandemic has triggered a surge in gun sales across San Diego County.
Firearm dealers from El Cajon to San Marcos reported last week a massive uptick in sales, saying the demand was being driven by first-time buyers, and was depleting their stock of guns and ammunition.
Its busier than Black Friday all day long, SoCal Gun employee Patrick Jones said Wednesday. He added that the wave of sales at the Kearny Mesa store was unprecedented.
An employee at the door allowed no more than 20 customers inside at a time. Its just too busy, Jones said.

People are preparing for a possible societal collapse. People are getting scared.
I was very ill prepared for this idiocy. I figure it’s too late for me to arm myself.
Never again will I trust society. After this I’m going to be prepared.
My concern about the virus is a tiny fraction compared to the economic fallout that could happen to me, or dealing with the insanity of mobs/crowds. I personally have seen people actually surprise me in the last week or two, folks seem to be unusually pleasant during this crisis.
Lots of first time gun buyers are now finding out that the Liberal lie that “a 14 year old can buy a gun from the Internet” ... are in fact lies.
They should hope nothing happens during the 10 day waiting period in cacafornia. Here in majestic illannoy we only have to wait 3 days after waiting 4 months (if you are lucky) for your FOID card then God knows how long for a carry permit.
Mainly, the virus happens or not, and you have only a set amount of control.
OTOH, mob violence can 100% kill you or not, depending on key bits of preparedness.
So: AR, 12 Ga., Semi-auto handgun.
Well better late than never I suppose. Meanwhile here in Indiana I walk out the door with my purchase as soon as the NIC's system says yes.
“I personally have seen people actually surprise me in the last week or two, folks seem to be unusually pleasant during this crisis.”
You must not have been in a grocery store lately.
LA Area too.
Passed two local gun stores the other day - in the pouring rain - both with lines out the door and down the block.
Not too late to arm yourself.
Start with something small and reliable - revolver is ideal consider a .357 magnum as it can fire both .357 mag and .38 special. $500 ish
Next, consider a shotgun. Pump and/or magazine fed is a good option. $500 ish
The AR-15 is perhaps the best option for a rifle. Remember that the lower receiver is considered the “rifle”. You can make your own and stay off of the Fed’s database. If this is your prefered option, and you have some basic equipment (drill press), you can mill out an 80% lower. Cost for a new AR-15 runs between $1,000 to $1,500
Several very large gun stores near me are out of ammo and gun sales are insane!
Liar.
“It never rains in Southern California!”
;-)
HOORAY AMERICANS! Ww have a template for rebuilding it...Constitution and Bill of Rights...1st doesn’t include LIES by politicos/propagandists. The LIE is the weapon used most often by the criminal. The criminal...it’s why we’re in this mess.
I would have thought more people would have been prepared after enduring 8 years of the MArxsist Muslim Petulant Man Child.
"An armed society is a polite society"...maybe they can afford to be polite.....just sayin'.
When I lived in CA, there was a 10 Day waiting period to buy a Gun and you could only buy one a Month.
Living in MS now. Here there is a 10 Minute waiting period. That’s how long it takes to fill out the Paperwork and get the Background Check done.
Since we have Constitutional Carry, you can leave the Store with your new purchase safely stored in the Holster on your Hip.
It’s even less of a wait if you buy a Gun privately from another Citizen.
Anyone that didn’t see this coming and prepare for it YEARS ago, should be ashamed of themselves.
An employee at the door allowed no more than 20 customers inside at a time. Its just too busy, Jones said
Small business in CA is just about set to rebel. Talking to one yesterday told me one more week. Government is no help, so its time to reopen.
Plans on 6 foot rule, take temp of entering patrons, and dares officials to shut him down. Itll be an economic rebellion when it starts.
“...folks seem to be unusually pleasant during this crisis.”
Same here. Real Americans are like that. The DIVIDE & CONTROL DC criminals and their PROPS are not...fanning the flames.
An armed society is a polite society.
