“Parts of Italy were in lockdown prior to March 1, so for those areas they are in lockdown day 21+.”

To be fair, Wuhan is still locked down. That probably is the explanation for there being less than 20% of the normal traffic volume. Or they are all dead, welded into their apartments (does starvation count as an underlying condition?)

“The virus clearly spreads much more quickly in a dense urban environment.”

Yes. Confirmed by my contact in the middle layers of the response. It was kind of obvious, but he stated it as indisputable fact.

Friends & family in Germany. Saying things are getting increasingly tense.

Lived there for a while, too, in Bonn. They are more distant than the Italians and French, and even in their cities they aren’t all piled up on each other. They do use public transportation a lot more than Americans, though.

“My understanding is that it is killing 1 to 6 percent of the confirmed cases, not the high percentages you give.”

Most of the cases remain unresolved. Can’t count them as wins or losses, yet.

One dozen eggs or one gallon milk isn’t a problem. It’s not like natives haven’t seen it before after quakes, or snowstorms or floods. And it stops the ijits who buy out the entire shelf. So that doesn’t bother me.

California is a huge state. We have beer, bread, wine, veggies, fruit, eggs, beef, mutton, goat, chicken, fish, pork and cheese. Calif doesn’t have a food shortage. We have a common-sense shortage. If people would pull a two-day moratorium on shopping, the stores could get restocked.

And I’d like to thank the people crowding the grocery stores last night. While they were fighting over the frozen peas, we were able to pick up center cut prime rib from Texas Roadhouse, a very generous portion in appreciation for our patronage, curbside delivery, no waiting list, which we enjoyed at home while watching the new episode of Westworld.

Oh, and it is 9% of confirmed cases in Italy at the moment. Many of the remaining are mild, but many are not. Their HCS collapsed so they aren’t really saving anybody at this point. You’re pretty much on your own.

If they don’t have 10,000 dead in a week it will be a miracle. Pray for a miracle. If they can intervene with HCQ that will count. But if you are too far along, it doesn’t help.

Are the Russians joining China and Iran in the “Stare Down The Virus” club?

RE: Italy/Wuhan.
Lombardy is full of Hubei born workers in the garment industry.
They went home for New Year, and at other times to visit family.
And came back.
And brought the virus to Italy long before Italy was aware.

The fight in Wuhan against the virus began long before the fight in Lombardy.
But both outbreaks likely started at the same time.

Geez, I gotta take a break from this insanity on both sides. I’m learning way too much about people. There’s a vanity from a guy who detailed his procedure to avoid all coronaviruses, including the common cold. It was more extreme than anything I’ve seen in this series of threads and it’s a regular thing with him. I see free market capitalists saying screw the old people who die, it’s all about the economy. Old people will just have to die because $$$$? Isn’t that normally a leftist view when their version of economics doesn’t quite work?

I think everyone needs a two week quarantine ... from the news.

We can worry about who invented the virus after we have time to deal with who deployed it.

You might consider that even if it was created in the West, it was done by Panda agents, bred or bought.

....this country will drown in TP

What a way to go. Sad thought. We'll go down fighting, but entangled in sheets of Charmin.

“Would be interesting to know how much NYC has spent on illegal-alien health care in recent years, instead of stocking up on essentials.”

Yes. Let’s remember that one for later. Be a good question to ask the open border crowd when we have time to do elections.
