from Dr. Seheult’s lecture:

Benefits on one side, drawbacks on the other side - are they balanced? more research is needed (but see also Canadian paper below).

The cons: hinders the manufacture of antibody triggering Cox-2, so it suppresses antibody production

The pros: may inhibit viral replication; toxic and inhibitory to influenza A and B; inhibitory to the original SARS, reduces fever/aches and pains

Canadian paper:
Key Points:
• There is insufficient evidence that NSAIDs negatively impact morbidity or mortality of COVID-19.
• Health Canada continues to recommend both ibuprofen and acetaminophen for treatment of fever due to COVID-19.1
• Evidence to date suggests that older people (>60 years of age) and those with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk of severe COVID-19 disease. As NSAIDs should also be used with caution in these populations, it is reasonable to avoid NSAIDs in the elderly and in those with comorbid conditions (e.g., cardiovascular disease, renal disease, chronic respiratory disease). If the use of an NSAID is unavoidable in these patients, it should be at the lowest effective dose and for the shortest duration.
• The CPhA monograph Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) contains detailed information on the contraindications, warning and precautions to consider when recommending or prescribing NSAIDs.

True, I should have pointed out it was my opinion, not based on scientific facts.

The whole terminology just sounds like a terror attack incoming.

‘shelter in place’.

His lastname was garbuz IIRC.

He had childhood asthma that he outgrew and had recovered four years ago from testicular cancer.

According to the AMA, 27% of Americans 18-64 have pre-existing conditions. 65 and older is pretty much a pre-existing condition in and of itself.

I entirely agree. I regarded that term as fedspeak for “It’s going down on Monday”.

Okay....different NY lawyer that passed.

Garbuz is nearly recovered...

...A lawyer at the center of a coronavirus hot spot in a New York City suburb is now improving, his family revealed Wednesday.

Adina Lewis Garbuz posted on Facebook that her husband, Lawrence Garbuz, is now “awake and alert and seems to be on the road to full recovery.”

Lawrence Garbuz, 50, had been in serious condition at a NYC hospital and forced the state to implement a “containment area” in New Rochelle last week. Gov. Andrew Cuomo called in the National Guard to clean surfaces and deliver food in a 1-mile-radius around the nation’s first big cluster of COVID-19 cases; nearly 100 cases in Westchester County were connected to Garbuz....

There are many pre-existing conditions. I think they are grasping at straws and ignoring the literal elephant in the room. All insulin resistance has correlated greatly with negative outcomes.

Glycated hemoglobin has been well established as the primary risk and the easiest to reverse.
