Matthew Sibson has put forward a theory that the story actually retold a great flood in the Middle East, where Egypt's high-rankers used the Great Pyramid of Giza to shield from disaster.
Mr Sibson's theory is based on a bombshell discovery in 2016, he revealed on his YouTube Channel "Ancient Architects".
He said last week: "The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered by Bedouin shepherds more than 50 years ago in the Qumran Caves in the Judean Desert of the West Bank near the Dead Sea.
"The find contained around 800 manuscripts, thought to be around 2,000 years old and contain a range of biblical and non-biblical stories, offering experts a glimpse into the past.
"Some have called it the greatest archaeological discovery of the 20th century, but scientists working at the Leon Levy Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Library Project scanned tens of thousands of fragments of the scrolls with a custom-made camera, that used different wavelengths of light at 28 times higher resolution than standard scans.
"Previously illegible words could now be read.
"Before then, regarding the story of Noah's Ark, scholars had been unable to read a particular word following the Hebrew phrase 'the ark's tallness,' but the new scans revealed the word 'ne'esefat.'
"The translation of this word from Hebrew to English means gathered, which Dr Alexey Yuditsky from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem says means that the ark's ribs were gathered at the top to form a shape of a pyramid."
...He added: "According to Yuditsky, the Septuagint - a Greek translation of the Old Testament, which dates to the third century BC, also describes the ark as pyramid-shaped, using a Greek verb that also has a similar meaning to 'gathered'.

The Dowager Empress of China (I think that was who) had a boat carved entirely out of one piece of marble. :^)
Too bad it didn’t land on Arafat.
Whew! That was close!

Most floodwater motion is lateral. It gradually covers a normally water-free area -- and, then it gradually drains off. It seldom leaves erosion marks, other than deepening already-extant drainage channels (gullies, arroyos, etc.)
The sphinx (and the isolating cavity around it) are carved in striated, layered rock.
Wind/sand erosion in striated rock is lateral -- it enhances the striated appearance by selectively removing exposed parts of the softer layers.
OTOH, Rain erosion is vertical -- it cuts vertical grooves down vertical rock faces -- which cut right across both the harder and softer rock layers.
The horizontal grooves are Æolian (wind-driven sand) erosion of softer layers.
The vertical grooves are Pluvial (rain drainage) erosion.
The vertical erosion in the image is unquestionably Pluvial.
The cavity isolating the sphinx was carved as part of Sphinx construction.
The geological evidence is unequivocal.

Interesting chart. However, I think the figure for Ebola is way low. It is probably valid for the US incident, but given that one custom in Africa was for the family or community to wash the dead before burial, it must have been higher. Also, people should be aware that HIV/AIDS is almost never spread unless there is an exchange of bodily fluids by sexual behaviors or blood transfusion.
Flood was coming, would have drowned everyone, but for the efforts of Noah’s narc.
Hee hee some of these postings in FReeperville are just waiting for the punchlines
selections from the Noahsark keywork, chronol sorted:
I assume you are familiar with Irving Finkels coracle theory, yes? If we extended the ribs to a gathered peak creating a giant garlic bulb then we could sort of-maybe-kinda also wedge it into the Sumerian description of one end pointed semi-submersable.
Not that I am an expert, but I cannot make much of this passage. I tried to access the orig article but it requires taking cookies, which I try to avoid. I read the 'page source' (incl HTML) which makes following the text a challenge.
The operant Hebrew word that I find is Strong's #5596 CaPHaCh (ne'e~sefat) from a root 'to scrape out', extended to 'abiding, gather together'. The word ends in Cheth, not Teth or Tau.
If Genesis 6:15 is the reference, I do not find the word in the passage in the Masoretic text. I do not know the early Semitic roots of the word. Of course I could be in the wrong ball park.
I note the orig article refers to the ridiculous theory that the pyramid represents the primeval mound. Ridiculous rather adequately describes this whole article's theory.
Irving Finkels coracle theory
That had a bunch to do with the topics I posted in that list above. :^)
Uh, the pyramids did represent the primeval mound.
