Looks like a lovely family, how sad.
Prayers...
This is not just killing old people.
It’s just the flu and they were probably old or in bad health.
/FReepers living in Egypt.
very sad, wish I could read the article.
Very sad. A younger senior and two middle aged children. Possibly the daughter gave it to her mother.
I’m monitoring my parents over the phone, and dropping off groceries at their doorstep as needed. They like to hug and kiss, and can’t change their ways at this stage.
Let’s pray this is not a sign of things to come.
I live in a rural area and taught jr. high students. Many of them went to a rural Lutheran church that has a large graveyard around it. I told them to go look at tombstones that had several deaths from one family in 1918-19. “Spanish” flu killed nearly 700,000 Americans.
By the way world leaders are reacting to Wuhan virus, I’m thinking they’re being told that this could be just as bad.
If you wonder if it is serious, there you go. Stay home.
Very sad......so we need to shut down society!
yes prayers up for this close and loving family. may God be with them.
If a member of the family gets ill, it’s not a good idea to all rush over there to comfort that person. It goes against our nature but the results can be tragic.
The media is sick the way it relishes these stories
How often has this scenario happened with the "regular" flu?
Second, all appear to be high risk, obese, at the very least.
Probably diabetes and cardiac issues also.
Not making any judgements here.
How many of us are "healthy"?
When I was younger, yeah, but approaching retirement?
Not so much.
I also don't want to take this to my Mom or my 2 immuno compromised sisters.
You got gas, touched the pump handle and keypad, opened the door, opened the cooler and grabbed a sixpack, used the keypad again, then pushed open the door by the handle.
Just imagine that someone else did exactly what you did, 5 minutes before you.
Only difference is that they're infected and the had just sneezed in their hands.
Use hand sanitizer when you come out of the store, before you get in your vehicle.
Or use gloves.
Common sense will end this, not us losing our liberty and the economy.
Horrible news. Anyone who thinks this disease is normal is not paying attention.
Here’s an article without a pay wall:
https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/03/nj-family-loses-3rd-member-to-coronavirus-as-devastation-continues.html
Unfortunately I’ve become so jaundiced on the news that I think there’s a good chance that this story is completely made up. Factually it wouldn’t be the first time.
Yes this is a tragedy...no doubt! Equally tragic are the 45,000 who’ve died from Influenza in the United State since October that many of you people won’t even acknowledge!
Does this mean we shut down our entire economy?
I can’t figure some of you people out! You feel that 8,938 COVID-19 deaths worldwide merits shutting down our entire economy, but 45,000 U.S. deaths from Influenza (Many infants and children!) doesn’t make you bat an eye!
You coronavirus groupies are truly nuts!
Sad story but no sadder than a thousand others that don’t get written about.
NYT runs stories like this to make people think they’ll get it, when in reality it’s like the lotto.
I wonder if there’s a genetic component to this?
It seems strange that so many in one family would succumb to it like that.
Her, at her age, yes, I could see that, but her children too? They could not have been that old.
PRAYERS!!
Second thing I notice - obesity, possible diabetes, and possible heart disease in the family.
Third thing I notice - pay wall, so I can't read the rest of the article.
Fourth thing - a man in New York with COVID-19 had two heart attacks yesterday and died.
Cause of death listed as COVID-19.
Hmmm...
