The owner of a local grocery market just a few blocks from where I have lived for more than twenty years has been infected with the Chinese virus.
Steve ******* is the owner of a family run market, a wonderful landmark grocery market operated by the family for more than 60 years The market is special because it stocks hard to get items that costomers request as well as products made locally. It also has one of the very best wine aisles with little placards describing where the wine grapes came from, what prizes were won by the winery, history and so on.
I received the following message:
****************************
Hi everyone,
For those who are unaware, Steve *******, the owner of ****** Market, has been diagnosed with Covid-19. I talked tonight via phone with his nephew, Yousef, and he asked me to share that Steve is at Harborview in ICU, in stable condition.
Yousef is not on our mailing list and asked me to share these things as well: following Steves diagnosis, the store closed for two days (this past Friday and Saturday) to undergo prescribed sanitization and deep cleaning. Additionally, ****** Market hired a professional cleaner to come in to do a second decontamination. Yousef indicated that Steve had not recently had much of a presence at the store; however, all employees who were in contact with him are quarantined at home.
Yousef appreciates that the community might like to check in about Steve and his well-being but asked for mindfulness regarding the familys privacy while they navigate this very uneasy time. On behalf of our community, I gave heartfelt wishes of love and recovery for our wonderful neighborhood friend.

The market is more than a market, it is a gathering place for neighbors, passersby, runners, cyclists, people walking their dogs. In its aisles and checkouts, people often swap views about city and regional politics and happenings. Its walls are covered all over with notices of art and music fairs, performances, lectures, readings, speeches,of meetups, ads for dog walkers and babysitters. It's a true hub of the community.
Even though the weather is sunny and warm, we are staying indoors. I got the urge to take our dog to the dog park yesterday but then decided not to out of caution. Our Aussie Shepherd is bummed to say the least.
Sorry to ramble on here but this just strikes too close to home.
I pray this day God strengthens and empowers our President to banish the Chinese virus from our land and from all lands everywhere.
************************************ I am not apologizing for calling the virus the 'Chinese virus'. I know it was engineered in a lab in the PRC and was not guarded properly. I want the PRC held accountable by the nations of the world. This must never happen again.
They are asking all grocery stores to remain open to serve the public interest, for obvious reasons, but a lot of store employees are getting sick. The flu is going around bad too, and some stores are finding it impossible to stock shelves and check out customers short staffed.
Because of where they area and what they are being asked to do, these people are on the front lines of potential exposure. :(
God bless you and the good people of Seattle. Your personal story hopefully will wake some people up.
Too bad the government spent the last two months gaslighting the public saying masks don’t work instead of getting them to the public and people like grocery store employees who really need them.
Its a matter of time until the revolutionary socialist government seizes control of all food distribution in America
Sounds like a great place. I love local entrepreneurs and small business-people like this. They really create a sense of community.
Tell Steve hes got thousands of Freepers praying for him.
Sounds like the way it should be. Prayers to Steve.
#4. Yes indeed.
There was an article last night that all those infected in Seattle could trace it back to one source.... see my comment at post 33 as it sounds like a friend of a friend was one of those people initially infected. https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3825285/posts
The CoV-19 is sensitive to heat and vitamin D. The best thing for you is a walk for 15 minutes in direct sunlight every day.
I have no choice but to go a Dr. to get a prescription.
Am pretty terrified of catching it .
They assure me that they are screening people at the door.
Big whoop.
I will be wearing an n95 mask and gloves to at least try to help.
Thanks. I will definitely do that today.
I’d call your doctor and really push back and tell them you feel unsafe. If that doesn’t work, Can you try a tele doc? They basically exist to give prescriptions without in-person consultation.
Prayers for the good man Steve. May he recover soon because it sounds like his market is just the kind of place that makes America what she is.
They need to start deliveries. Bags can be dropped off helping to keep employees safe. People receiving can wipe down groceries so they dont bring in infection.
My dog makes me sit outside for hours at a time so I should be soaking up lots of D. Not sure how much good it does to sit out here, this is Michigan, there is no sun visible today.
Is it a “maintenance medicine”, like a BP med or the like? If so, you should be able to just have the Doc call it in to a pharm for you.
If it’s for a tightly controlled substance, that probably wouldn’t fly, though.
Tried. Wont do it. I have to go in. Hacks me off. It hasnt even been a year since the last visit.
I am looking to see if a teledoc will do it.
“I am looking to see if a teledoc will do it.”

Sounds like a plan to me - good luck, hope they can oblige you!
I’ve had a killer case of bronchitis for a week now. I called my doctor and told her what was going on. She said no reason to come in and she will call me something in. I picked up my meds and even though I still have it at least I’m comfortable. She agreed that there was no reason for me to come in and possibly catch something worse or at the very least scare everybody to death with this gosh awful cough.
