LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The 146th running of The Kentucky Derby will be postponed until the first Saturday in September, according to multiple sources.
Kentucky Derby, which was originally scheduled for May. 2, will be moved to Saturday, Sept. 5 in response to COVID-19, sources say.
The official announcement regarding the 146th Kentucky Derby will be made Tuesday at 9 a.m. via teleconference.
The postponement marks the first time the Derby will not be held on the first Saturday in May since 1945. It was postponed in June 1945 when the government issued a ban on horse racing due to World War II.

The Kentucky Derby is part of the Triple Crown. Corona is Spanish for crown.
Will the Preakness and Belmont Stakes also be moved???? So they can maintain the triple crown race lineup?
The fall is going to be lit in the sports world. Well have every sport packed in weekly. Golf majors, NBA finals, nfl, mlb. The olympics if delayed.

Yep.. the Masters will likely be in October. Augusta National always closes the course just a few weeks after the Masters because the bent grass greens can't stand the heat of Augusta summers. They won't be able to play again until October.
Now that the other majors are all front loaded to the Spring the Master might STAY in October... ? It would be exciting to have the Masters be the LAST major of the year. But, maybe not.. Augusta, in the Spring, is the most beautiful place in the world.
