An emergency room doctor at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland is in critical condition with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

The hospital at the center of the coronavirus outbreak in King County confirmed that the doctor was ill Sunday afternoon.

“EvergreenHealth is providing care for one of our physicians who has a confirmed case of COVID-19. He is in critical condition but stable. Out of respect for our patient’s privacy and that of his family, there is nothing more we can share at this time,” says a brief statement issued by the hospital on Sunday.

Health in general. At my wife’s cardiac therapy the exercise regime was touted as curing 90+% of all health ailments. Worth a try.
One article I found stated there is some healing in the cilia after a person quits smoking. If it gets to emphysema before quitting, not so much.

Sorry about that 2nd hand smoke

I once asked my health care provider if I took up smoking and then quit, would I get all the health benefits of quitting smoking. That guy has no sense of humor.

Regular flu can and does take out young people sometimes, often with cytokine storm. “Spanish” flu took out many that way. Covid 19 is not in the flu family, perhaps it does not trigger an excessive immune response the way flu can.

Visitors should be limited to providing history details when patient is unable, and imminent patient death.

On a lighter note...imagine fewer people to bump into, trip over and fewer phone videos during patient care. :o)

“Albuterol Sulphate”

Yeah, but be careful with the Albuterol. Some people, like me, have a bad reaction to it. In my case, a doctor gave me an inhaler to help her listen to my lungs. Within 20 minutes of inhaling the Albuterol, I had a fever of 102.8, which spiked up to 103.5 repeatedly for almost 7 hours (I had no fever whatsoever before inhaling the Albuterol). After that, my temp dropped right back down to normal.

Worked great for me twice.

I looked at the counter this afternoon on the 2020 version and I took 26 hits over maybe a couple of months [2x per day max].

Glad to hear it. Hopefully, I’ll never need it, or if I do, there’s something else than can be substituted for it. It was a scary experience.

...I really believe it goes beyond underlying conditions mantra...

It could be that some people are genetically more susceptible.

Sort of like the way that some cancers run in certain families with specific genetic markers.

This plus older people being more at risk would explain a lot.

In India where there are more people than US and all of Europe & Iran combined, and worse sanitary conditions, there are very few covid-19 infections! Not many sick and dying from this virus.,

Look at a globe -- it is hot in India. High temps and more sunshine are bad for the virus.

Our trajectory is distorted by testing availability.
I would think if we had widely available testing from the onset, the curve would be flatter.

Fair point.

A week or two more should leave that issue in the dust of history.

Objective data rule; the CDC drool.

I believe in the case of the ER doctors it comes down to a higher viral load after being exposed to a significantly higher viral shed.

Perhaps stress and lack of sleep contributed.

Yep...particular if the ER doc was a resident. Those kids put in the hours.
Yeah, I know, residents are relatively young.

People aren’t taking it seriously. YOu see it in post after post.
*****************************************
I think almost all are taking it seriously and taking the appropriate precautions such as hand washing, social distance and getting adequate rest. Not believing it’s on the level of the Spanish Flu or the Black Death does not mean a person doesn’t take precautions.

You are so right. Deep breathing exercise gets air in bottom part of lungs and that helps expel junk sitting there and festering. This treadmill routine I am doing every other day is helping me stay strong and healthy beyond my expectations.
I do 27-30 minutes at 20-22 minutes/mile pace (like fast walking) and 3 deg upslope. I do not believe in excessive exercise for seniors. This seems to be more than adequate.
All Freepers over age 50 should begin some regular exercise routine. Then we will be around longer LOL.
