Add Cognizant to the list.
I’ve seen the same thing. It’s sad.
Also a little funny. From a tech paradigm standpoint, a lot of people are focusing on DevOps. Get the developers closely aligned with the Operators. Have field experiences translate quickly to new requirements and deploy systems fast that meet actual needs. Get rid of time-consuming practices in-between that add little value.
I’m waiting for that thinking to transfer to the bureaucracy: Get the boots-on-the-ground people communicating with the top management layer. Derive a strategic plan based on real experiences out in the real world. Get rid of inefficient bureaucratic layers which only serve to employ middle managers who add little value.
As for me, I've been working from home three days a week for the past two years. The impact to me is that it takes longer to do my job due to people being harder to reach (we're all over-loaded.) Beyond that, the impact to me is minimal.
The impact to people I know and care about? That's another story.
No more calls from Peggy?
Suffice it to say I can get quite crude and I keep going until the dummies hang up.
Look at it this way: EVERY American citizen who helps his employer avoid the consequences of outsourcing, helps screw his fellow Americans.
CEOs need to understand consequences.
The decision doesn’t impact me. It does however impact people I know. They aren’t going to go along.

They will if they like to eat.
If this BOA, I used to work with the guy that did some of the outsourcing... he used to work at Continental Airlines in Houston. Moved on to be the CIO of BOA.
My staff was cut from 22 FTE's and 60 offshore resources to 4 FTE's and 0 offshore resources while I was vacationing with my family in Disney back in 2002. I spent the first four hours of every day on conference calls while my now ex-wife took our sons to different things in Disney.
I resigned my Director level postion in March of 2007 with that bank. I've been with a different bank since.
I resigned my Director's level position with the bank that BoA was acquring in early 2007. Not 2002. Sheesh. I've had one too many bourbon's tonight I think.
F----rs were taking in 6%-7% of $200 million earnings in total compensation. The board should have outsourced management to the Hyderabad School of Business and Finance and issued $200 million in bonds to fix their rotten, aging core software infrastructure.
I hope this mess causes them to fold.
It may well cause them to go under. But, hate to say it, the execs that caused it will come out of it smelling like roses and with big fat checks. They always do.
They surpassed the UK as the worlds fifth largest economy just last year.
Sorry, but I can’t feel too sorry for you. I’m sure those people you are counting on in India prefer to live that to do for you whatever it is. THIS has always been a possibility/probability, so maybe you should have done something about it instead of just counting on them. Stay safe.
Getting the user layer and implementer layer talking the same language requires a talented intermefiate layer - or a bunch of trial and error.
True.
My husband and I got to visit both India and China.
Both countries are a mess.
If this is widespread, you are going to see a lot of CIO’s shown the door after this. Also, if the Cloud fails, it’s going to be bad. Maersk starting downsizing the IT staff that saved them from NotPetya and sending the work to India. They are going to get lucky again by not being a year into the plan when this hits.
Need to remove the CFOs as well. In my personal experience the push to outsource comes from them.
