Is it time to panic? NO.
This document is trying to help you to understand the situation at hand and not to terrify you. We want to make sure you understand the facts and understand what is at stake. This is a Pearl Harbor moment for our country. We are facing a real threat and we need to face it with all of our resources. When people decry the seriousness of this moment they are steering our country off a cliff, we need everyone to understand that this is important and if we work together to slow the spread we will get through this as we are learning from Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and China.
The effectiveness of our healthcare system to deal with a sudden tsunami of respiratory illness is what is at risk. If our healthcare system buckles under the strain of tens of thousands of patients then we could be looking at a catastrophe.

Agree. And is the virus going to just go away because we are hovering inside our homes and watching golfers from the 50’s? Sooner or later when we emerge from this protective cocoon it’s going to run its course. Will we have a vaccine? Well maybe and maybe not. Meantime will we still have a country?

A big part of what we need to do is curtail our away from home behavior for 2-4 weeks and we will immensely help our system response to this.

Amen! I can understand trying to slow the spread out some to allow time to experiment with treatment. But we don’t need to destroy our country over it. I’d be safer driving a tank to work instead of a car, but I have to balance safety against all the rest of my life.

COVID-19 isn't through killing by a long shot. Besides, even if you don't die, I don't like the idea of being sicker than a dog for two to three weeks. Since you're such a brave soul, why don't you sign up to be first in line for the vaccine trials? I hear they are paying good money.

Let’s update ourselves: Although the coronavirus, like influenza, can be survived by most Americans, it is much more infectious than influenza, like orders of magnitude more infectious.
But coronavirus requires a human host to survive and multiply. Once it’s gone from a human host by the human recovery or death, it ceases to be, it can’t survive long outside a human host.
THEREFORE, THE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS IS ‘SOCIAL DISTANCING’ UNTIL IT IS OVER WHICH MAY BE A FEW WEEKS.

More than 80% of the American economy is made up of small and mid size businesses. They cannot survive massive social distancing, quarantine without government help.

Ohio’s governor is now talking keeping the shut down going FOR MONTHS.
You cannot keep the supply chains of the US operating this way and MORE people WILL STARVE and people WILL DIE from the collapse of civilization and unemployment then from the deaths of this virus.

This is why a lock down will not work. You have to many people who do not recognized the danger of COVID-19. They are convince the virus is vast left wing conspiracy to destroy President Trump. They need to go back and listen to President Trumps declaration of National Emergency.
Then you have the other groups I am young it will not effect me. They are on spring break and do not care. That group will be going home soon because the colleges are close to spread the virus in their home towns.
Then you have the Just A flu bro crowd, who misinterpret data (just like the global warming crowd) to back their belief that this a nothing.
Those are either not respitory illnesses, taxing the number of respirators we have, or do not spread as quickly.

Flattening the curve will mean fewer people in the hospital at once, making successful treatment more likely of more people. Plus the springtime weather may mean a flu-like retreat of the virus. This gives time to develop and test vaccines.
He’s giving our loons some scare meat and they are demanding we “spread” this BS to family and friends.
Then they complain in the comments about the “heavy-handed” response by the government.
Unfortunatly, Bingo.
But if a few people take it seriously, it will help.
The more people that take it seriously the better off our health system will be and the less we’ll be taxing the doctors and nurses and the number of respirators we have.
