Has the Coronavirus already come and gone for most of the US? Adam Houseley, formerly of FoxNews, says that MAY be the case...
What caused the deaths? the virus or the underlying complication?
Would they have died any way?

everyone is going to die anyway.
what speeds up death is another story.
Diabetics will die anywhat, so will COPD, but perhaps not for years and years. They are fragile and can succumb more quickly.
Liken it to people thrown into the ocean with various levels and capacities to swim.
The most compromised (non swimmers) drown immediately.
Then the moderately compromised ( poor swimmers) drown quickly
then the better swimmers least compromised drown after a few hours.
then the best swimmers, stay alive for the rescue.
None of them would have died, at that time, on dry land.
They had viral pneumonia fatalities and did not identify the lethal virus? They did CT scans on viral pneumonia patients and did not see the pattern?
I had the strangest cold/flu starting around Thanksgiving after a trip to Texas by plane.
By Dec 20th, my family took me to a FastMed for a chest x-ray to see if I had pneumonia. Funny thing — I never had a fever. But, I was wiped out and needed bed rest.
X-ray was negative. Got a Z-pack (Azithromycin) and cough medicine, Z-pack did nothing. I had some doxycycline left over from an earlier illness and took it, which made the illness go away (I think).
I will be interested if they develop an exposure/antibody test.
It is possible that given the fact that for the majority of people who get the Corona virus their symptoms are mild, and given the sparse testing done in the U.S. so far, that many people who think they have gotten over a case of the “flu” may in fact have gotten over a case of Cov-19. If all that is true, THEIR bodies may have produced some Cov-19 immunity abilities.
Doesn’t hurt to believe this scenario is true if a person is hoping for the best, but prepared for the worse. Hope is good to have. The next 2 weeks will tell the tale and we all have our fingers crossed as we ride through whatever may come.
“My daughter is a hospital based APRN. She has had similar discussions with her colleagues that Covid-19 has been amongst us since December given the severity and mortality of the current flu season. However we will like likely never know given the lack of testing for that time period.”

I wonder if there are tests that would show if a person had been exposed to it in the past? If so, it would not only weigh somewhat on the side of the theory here, but be incredibly helpful in managing things from here on out.
I saw no reference to a magic wand. I read a question as to whether the Chicoms lied about the timing, which would be the basis for speculation regarding whether the US may have seen its first wave already, deep in the midst of flu season.
It was clearly speculation. I will agree that over optimistic speculation can be dangerous, but identifying routes of investigation to unravel the history of this outbreak is important.
Only time will tell us about this outbreak. Both investigation and voluntary isolation will play important parts.
I read your original reply as stating that the speculation of lying by the Chinese and earlier US exposure was not possible. Did I misunderstand your intent?
The downtown area of Spokane is overrun with bums now. Looks like a mini-Seattle. Squalor, filth, disease. The north side of town is horribly run down and dilapidated.
I got sick in late January.
Severe cough that kept me awake.
Treated it with Mucinex.
I was coughing for a month.
I’ve found the older I get, the longer it takes to recover from a “cold”.
Did you develop a fever?
You make a great point. Yet medical diagnosis is part presumption, part evidence based. If you do not know to look for a disease mechanism, you are unlikely to find it unless you are a research hospital.
As to acquired immunity, I would hope that would be the norm, but like common flu, the strains mutate.
The first responders I spoke with and several doctors say that flu was rough this winter and many people with very similar symptoms to Covid were sent home to recover. Did they already have it? Has it already been thru here?
More importantly, this coronavirus is distinctive, and even without foreknowledge from China it would have been correlated and identified had it hit large numbers of people and caused even a moderate number of hospitalizations, much less deaths.

But I wonder if they wouldn’t have to report seeing something new (or maybe did report it)? Could doctors just look at such things as being within the bounds of statistical oddity and not be too concerned?
Im not saying yes or no, but my husband who now works in hospital kept telling me about how bad the flu was right around thanksgiving. He said he found it odd because they really thought the flu shot would be much more effective vs last year.
It didnt just stay put in the China or Europe for a few months. It hand to have come here back in December IMHO.

Diagnosed to dead is a nearly meaningless statistic because like here they only diagnose people who go to the doctor with serious symptoms... Italy which has been hit far harder than Britain as of two days ago had 1255 deaths attributed to “covid 19”. In Italy “During the 2017 - 2018 flu season the number of influenza-attributable excess deaths was 24,981, from https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1201971219303285.
Did we have the same type of breathless reporting during the 2017-18 flu season when there were 20 times more deaths from the flu in Italy? No, this is the most over-hyped medical crisis in history. And the media and political tools used to do it have been bogus statistics like the one you just quoted.
