How To Stop Yourself Getting Covid19 - And Help Stop The Spread - If Everyone Did This The Epidemic Would Soon Stop

---SNIP--- you can stop yourself from getting the virus and so can your relatives and friends, by following the same simple rules that Bruce Aylward and his team used. This international team of experts toured the worst virus hotspots in China. They came away again confident that they are not contacts for the virus and didn’t need to be quarantined before talking directly to the press.

You can keep yourself safe from this virus in the same way, with the right hygiene. If most of us did this it would soon go extinct in the wild.

All of us who do this are helping our country and the world to contain the virus

Why isn’t it being pushed as a cure then?

If that gets around, there will probably soon be a Q-tip shortage in all the stores!        :-)

For some reason, that brings to mind that famous old saying...

The silver Ion kills all viruses and bacteria

Oh man oh man.... You are so right. The other snake oil cures guaranteed to work are perinial sunning, naked hot yoga and dabbing lavender oil on your anus.

We are soooooo much smarter than those dumb epidemiologists and doctors. It is all big pharma and big toilet paper behind this fakery. They should put up statues of us in every town square. You and me. Real geniuses.

Is the sarc tag even needed?

up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to 2-3 days on plastic and stainless stee

Holy crap.

OOPS... almost forgot the most important medieval cure. Leeches.

Here are some things that worked for the black plague:

Place a live hen next to the swelling to draw out the pestilence from the body. To aid recovery you should drink a glass of your own urine twice a day.

Or

Roast the shells of newly laid eggs. Ground the roasted shells into a powder. Chop up the leaves and petals of marigold flowers. Put the egg shells and marigolds into a pot of good ale. Add treacle and warm over a fire. The patient should drink this mixture every morning and night

Or

The swellings associated with the Black Death should be cut open to allow the disease to leave the body. A mixture of tree resin, roots of white lilies and dried human excrement should be applied to the places where the body has been cut open.

You know our ancestors were genius about stuff like silver and the cures above. They were onto something.

Welcome. People need to go back and watch what China was doing and not what they said. All the fumigation resources was a tell.

The argument of droplet and aerosol was ludicrous. The purpose was to hide the vulnerabilities of US reliance on Chinese PPE supplies. Aerosolized translates into the need for masks. We don't have them. Masks for those who may be infected and masks to protect those who are not infected. Further, gloves to prevent fomites transfer.

In my wife's office the masks were under lock and key for practitioners. It didn't help. They were all stolen Friday. All of the Purell was also taken from every exam room.

I fear for our medical partitioners and my wife.

Paper is here:

https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.09.20033217v2.full.pdf

"HCoV-19 remained viable in aerosols throughout the duration of our experiment (3 hours) with a reduction in infectious titer from 103.5 to 102.7 TCID50/L, similar to the reduction observed for SARS-CoV-1, from 104.3 to 103.5 TCID50/mL (Figure 1A). HCoV-19 was most stable on plastic and stainless steel and viable virus could be detected up to 72 hours post application (Figure 1A), though the virus titer was greatly reduced (plastic from 103.7 to 100.6 TCID50/mL after 72 hours, stainless steel from 103.7 to 100.6 TCID50/mL after 48 hours). SARS-CoV-1 had similar stability kinetics (polypropylene from 103.4 to 100.7 TCID50/mL after 72 hours, stainless steel from 103.6 to 100.6 TCID50/mL after 48 hours). No viable virus could be measured after 4 hours on copper for HCoV-19 and 8 hours for SARS-CoV-1, or after 24 hours on cardboard for HCoV-19 and 8 hours for 39 SARS-CoV-1 (Figure 1A)."

and then this:

What I find interesting about this is that COVID-19 behaves very similarly to SARS - especially "This indicates that differences in the epidemiology of these viruses likely arise from other factors, including high viral loads in the upper respiratory tract and the potential for individuals infected with HCoV-19 to shed and transmit the virus while asymptomatic"

I have warned work that people *will* steal items and to keep doors locked.

I do wonder if stealing things like this, depending on the location and circumstances might result in some vigilantism.

Holy crap.

Please read the article. For surface testing, there was "exponential decay in virus titer across all experimental conditions".

It's a matter of reducing risk. Its would seem very difficult to eliminate risk altogether.

I do go about my business but I am hyper aware of the filthy people around me. I hear hacking coughs and people touching everything. This Corona is in charge.

Yup, its airborne, or at least one strain is.

This is pretty good. Most of us will get a light case if at all. And the precautions that we all know will really go far to preventing infection.

* Wash hands frequently, stop touching face, keep 1-2 meters from anyone sick. * * The author claims the disease is "hard to get" since it is NOT AIRBORNE. * 99.8% of people who get it will recover.

Actually, hard to believe, but it stresses not touching your face which is harmless, versus touching your eyes, nostrils, or mouth/lips.

In addition, it fails to mention the important advice of making sure your hands are clean before touching food from with them, and making sure dishware and all such are washed well.

Furthermore, They Say Coronavirus Isn't Airborne—but It's Definitely Borne By Air. The word “airborne” means different things to different scientists, and that confusion needs to be addressed. other sources say it is AIRBORNE

according [to] Lydia Bourouiba, whose lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology..When you breathe out or cough, you release bits of watery mucus from inside your body in a wide array of sizes, ranging from bigger, wetter ones to finer ones. All of these are droplets. The smallest droplets are commonly described as aerosols. Whatever you call them, though, any of these bits of mucus may be laced with viral pathogens. To make matters more complicated, when the water component of droplets dries up in the air, the remaining bits of floating virus are called “droplet nuclei,” which are even lighter and more apt to travel long distances. Aside from size, other factors, such as local humidity and any drafts of air, will also affect how far a droplet flies. - https://www.wired.com/story/they-say-coronavirus-isnt-airborne-but-its-definitely-borne-by-air/

no evidence even people sitting next to an infected person in an hours long plane journey...

That statement by the author is not supported by CDC guidance. The CDC has written that sitting one row away from someone with the COVID-19 virus moves you from low to moderate risk.

The next highest risk category is that of medical personnel working with infected patients in a hospital, and requires full PPE.

Yup, they do. I am aware of that, too, so bring them in with gloves on and put them off to the side for later use.

Cans and bottles can be washed for 20 seconds with soapy water easily.

COVID supposedly lives on cardboard, and likely paper bags, for 24 hours.

Or just don’t bring the groceries in for a few days if they aren’t going to freeze or spoil. I did that with some flour and oats I bought locally that came in paper bags. They sat out in the car. It’s not going to hurt them.
