A team of Canadian scientists has successfully isolated and grown copies of the coronavirus bringing the world a step closer to finding a vaccine to fight the deadly illness.
Researchers from the Sunnybrook Research Institute, the University of Toronto, and McMaster University were able to isolate and replicate the virus in a lab using samples taken from two Canadian patients.
The lab-grown copies will now be able to help scientists study the pathogen to develop better diagnostic testing, treatments, vaccines, and gain a better understanding of its biology, the team said in a statement.

i think Israel is another...you know things are bad in Iran when the mullahs are already saying they will accept the vaccine from Israel...
Funny, in times of pestilence your sworn enemies aren’t so bad.
“Just the facts, ma’am”. Interesting how FR has fragmented into 2 camps....the “hair on fire” camp and the “head in the sand/whistle past the graveyard” camp.
Is the president a pessimistic hand-wringer? He is sticking to the facts now.
No, vaccines bypass several layers of natural defenses that might take it out before it even gets a good foothold.
“grown” a virus? There’s a breakthrough.
“Unfortunately once they finish it, it is 12-18 months for human trials”
With animal trial first.
SARS test vaccine worked on first exposure, and killed all subjects on a second exposure.
You can’t hurry or skip testing.
Beware the vaccine- industry -medical complex
I dare you to read the listing of the complications that are listed on every vaccine
What I want to say will get me banned. A good portion of this is generated by the left. The left is desperately trying to steer it all and doing a pretty good job of it. We are being manipulated.
Generally? None to Occasionally.
Everyone in my large extended family have probably all had dozens vaccine shots and not one had side effects other than very short, mild versions of the virus the shot were for. That's the point of vaccines, to let your body get to be able to fight the real virus.
They were using the swine flu vaccine in 6 months.
I can recommend the Shingles vaccine for those that feel that they didn’t get their money’s worth in the reaction area. Oh and there are two shots spaced apart by three months.

Remdesivir is in late stage trials and expected to report the results in April. Supposedly they are ramping up production in anticipation of the results. Its already being used for compassionate use at the University of Nebraska. If it has decent efficacy it could be very useful in treating moderate to severe cases. I think I read it was being considered for a prophylactic treatment in people who may have been exposed a case.
Moderna already has a vaccine and was shipped to NIH and Kaiser Permanente. They are beginning stage I human trials in Washington State.”
Military getting it also. See last link for who else is listed.
Trying second link again...
Its my opinion that they could have simply obtained this from China if the freaking Chicoms werent a blight on the planet.
I don’t believe this, no one has ever developed a vaccine for a Corona type virus and certainly I doubt there could be one right now. Will believe it when I see it.
Supposedly, some patients developed scarring in the lungs after being treated for COVID, and have decreased lung capacity. Permanently. And for those of us who are immune compromised, I look forward to a vaccine.
We have known people that had shingles with severe pain for long periods of time. That convinced us to get the shots.
We heard he older vaccine, Zostavax, had more side effects.
Yep - it seems that those of us who were children in the ‘50s (or even ‘40s for some of you really old coots) have stronger immune systems than the batch that grew up with vaccines for everything under the Sun....because our immune systems were forced to deal with “childhood” diseases and such.
Yes, but a lot more children in the 40s and 50s died of disease, too and never made it to adulthood...
Technology tends to do that - also a lot more preemies and those born with congenital defects survive and even flourish today...but there are also those concerned that our environment can be so sterile today that many children’s immune systems don’t fully develop because they have far less to fight off...then something there is no vaccine for comes around.....
