Yesterday's thread is here: http://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3823939/posts?page=1301
It had the virtue of never being attempted before!
Tough guy, head to Italy and go tell us about the fear mongering.
Tough guy, head to your local airport and explain to the folks there why they are losing their jobs because preppers want to feel validated.
The economic pain from the supply chain issues has nothing to do with any of us on this board.
WE didn’t quarantine entire provinces in China with the military.
WE didn’t shut down shipping and entire ports in China.
THOSE effects will be felt for a year or more.
As far as the National Emergency...do you think Trump is an idiot? Do you think he’s doing what he’s doing because of a few ‘gaslighters’ as you call them? You think mmmMMMmaybe Trump has advisors that know what they’re doing here?
Trust Trump.
True. But from what we’ve read that Vietnam/India stuff still gets parts from China.
China is somewhere in the supply chain for pretty much everything now.
Our goal with parts buying was to basically ensure we had one vehicle running just in case things were dodgy for a year or so.
We went shopping during that time, and dont have to wait in long, nasty lines now.
Dont be mad at us because there is a lethal virus. Its a fact, and its time to face it and try to protect yourself and those you love.
Swine flu is a “lethal virus”. Killed 500k world wide I believe. Did we shut down the country and crash the economy for that? Of course not.
” some personal need for attention”
Absolutely.
The Flubros. type will just keep going on. They will not accept any responsibility for their gullibility, they will just blame others and try to incite the public against their new target.
My guess?
They will be the new cheerleaders for a war with China.
“It shouldn’t have been so bad—they tricked us into not paying attention” yada yada
Go out and buy some of that buck sixty gas and help out the US oil industry! MAGA!
“China is somewhere in the supply chain for pretty much everything now. Our goal with parts buying was to basically ensure we had one vehicle running just in case things were dodgy for a year or so”
I was going to say the same. China is (or was, I guess) well over 50% of the world’s steel production. You need steel for brake pads (unless we go back to re-lining...but I doubt anyone even knows how to do it now). Probably the same for just about everything else.
It will be very difficult to get China’s sticky fingers out of just about everything we buy...maybe not even possible.
Sadly, yes, the violence is going to rise as much as the new cases. It went from stealing all the tp and sanitizer to bloody fights in a matter of hours. With all the empty shelves yesterday, I was greatly surprised no one was begging to have something out of my cart which is normal behavior here.
Whoa! It’s Spring Break but it’s quiet out on the lake. There was minimal weekenders partying last night.
‘We’ went shopping in January for stuff WE could see would be an issue because the supply chains from China were being cut.
WE saw the military quarantine of entire provinces and went !!!!! ‘when have the chicoms ever done THAT before’...’what do we need to have that comes from China’.
It’s not OUR fault you weren’t paying attention.
WE saw what the virus did to South Korea. Entire cities were quarantined and large and even medium/small gatherings were prohibited. WE thought ‘hey, if WE were locked in OUR homes for 2 or 3 weeks...what would we need to have’...
It’s not OUR fault you didn’t pay attention to South Korea.
Or Italy.
Or now Spain.
etc.
YOU weren’t paying attention to world affairs. Don’t accuse US of gaslighting and ‘destroying the economy’ because WE were were paying attention.
Unless you think Trump is the idiot.
Do you think Trump is an idiot?
We did.
Filled both vehicles and every can we own. Also bought some Stabil and put in a cpl of the cans, just in case.
God bless!
Be well.
Lodi:
There really is a reason for all of this. This virus really is different.
If you have time to watch some videos this guy does an excellent job of walking you through how this is different from the other “flu panics” over past decades:

Start with the older videos, and try to keep an open mind.
Folks here have been _on_ this for weeks, and we _really_ understand it.
I’m one of those idiots at the airport every week and one of those idiots whose job is at risk due to this economic collapse. Unlike you, I’m not blaming others and whining. Quit whining like a little bitch.
Can’t exactly say Poland is in on this grand left wing conspiracy against Trump. TPTB know some things.
I have to admit I’m shocked by the grocery store runs.
I’m guessing people eat out even more than I thought and basically had to completely stock a pantry/fridge/freezer from scratch for 2 or 3 weeks worth of food.
I’d also have thought people kept a cpl 2 or 3 weeks of TP around just so they didn’t have to buy it all the time. Wrong there.
We stocked up end of Jan/first cpl weeks of Feb just so we wouldn’t have to get out and be exposed to sick people. Hubby is 50 with high blood pressure and asthma so we’re protecting him.
Charley:
I am worried some of the “just the flu” bros are going to go straight to the depression stage without passing through the anger and bargaining stage....
Lack of oxygenated blood flow?
