I don’t think so. Just think of how much we export!
(Scroll down to list.)
I also suspect that because a lot of what we import from China is processed or “finished product”, going by dollar value distorts the “dependencies”.
I live in a fairly small town...two hospitals. Going to be tough.
Our frozen vegetables are packaged in: Illinois, California, Minnesota, Idaho, Washington, and Mexico.
Our canned vegetables also undergo the canning process near where they are grown: in Minnesota, Idaho, Wisconsin, New York, the Netherlands, and Peru.

“So food wise, we are not dependent on China in a national security sense?”
Not even remotely.
Yeah, I had to quit following him on twitter yesterday.
Obvious. The last ring of the expanding cohort will be the largest. Math.
Depends on how well sealed it is.
If you want it to last longer than a freezer bag will keep it, which is only 4 months or so, after you put it in plastic, wrap it well in aluminum foil and fold the edges together securely.
That will essentially make it hermetically sealed and reduce the moisture loss through the plastic.
Not sure how long that will last but should be a good long time.
I see what you mean. That challenges the logistics.

covid thread from John Sillivan and Sheryl Atkisson.
There are going to be a lot of bad ratio days in SK since they have caught the bulk of the cases but many unresolved cases are pending. It will be over 1% at the end.
Even if that guy that claimed (but did not source) that 99% of their cases were mild was correct, they were going to hit 1.1, 1.2% CFR. We’ll see how it goes from here.
Italy’s health system is overwhelmed:
- “We’re close to the point of no return for intensive care beds in Lombardy. We have 15 to 20 intensive care beds left. With 85 new people entering ICU every day and 2 or 3 leaving, we’re close to the point of no return. “There are no more ambulances” -

That is the scariest thing I have read all day, wow.
US has twice as many ICUs as Italy per population.
Closer to three times as many...

NYC has a sense of normalcy tonight. Lots of bars and restaurants are full.
And this is huge problem.
We need everybody to avoid crowds and congested places. To avoid close contact with strangers. To shelter at home if at all possible.
We need to end the denial and skepticism.
really? I will have to ask around about that farm..
We used to go to Taylor Ice Cream in Verona or Cedar Grove.
ATLANTA Gov. Brian P. Kemp issued an executive order Saturday afternoon authorizing Adjutant General Tom Carden - at the request of Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Director Homer Bryson - to call up as many as 2,000 Georgia National Guard troops to active duty to address novel coronavirus and COVID-19 in Georgia.
Ah. Thanks for that.
