I think economically divorcing China may be one of the real positives of this whole debacle.

Florida woman dies after Asia trip, COVID-19 diagnosis in California
Florida’s COVID-19 fatalities are all travel related, investigators say
MIAMI – A Florida woman who traveled to Asia and was diagnosed with COVID-19 in California died, Florida Department of Health officials announced on Saturday. She was a 68-year-old Orange County resident.
The woman is the third Florida resident to die after being diagnosed with the respiratory illness.
“In the Netherlands most of the people in ICU are under 50.
In Italy many of the infected younger are actually starting to get sicker with time as well. They are reporting more and more young people in serious condition. The Swiss are seeing the same.”

It’s not that I doubt you so much as I want to have all the ‘i’s dotted, etc. I long suspected that the age distribution was at least skewed by the demographics of the early infected. And the disease takes so long to resolve that the weakest die fast enough to give misleading data.
Santa Clara County is a disaster at this point—a bunch of San Jose firefighters are positive, two screeners at the San Jose airport are positive—the Health Official looked she was about to cry at yesterday’s press conference.
Of course Stanford students are from all over CA, the US and the world.
The virus is winning this war, pure and simple.
I’ve slowly been organizing and cleaning out cabinets and closets. Amazing what I’m finding that would be useful and things that need to be trashed. It has also made room for more preps. More importantly, it is helping to realize what is needed in the potential (knock on wood) isolation bed and bathroom.
Something to think about purchasing is a carpet cleaning machine, carpet and upholstery cleaner and vinegar for a rinse.
Ha, Trump just told a reporter to relax. He’s telling about not being a hand shaker before becoming a politician. People shouldn’t shake hands now and for the long term.
Would be easier to roll out than a vaccine.
And since MOST people don’t need an ICU bed when they get this virus would likely be WAY Cheaper too. Just dose the few percent who get a serious case and let everyone else develop herd immunity to it on their own.

I’ve been saying that I see it as a golden opportunity for POTUS and the country.
Once we weather the immediate threats of this storm, hopefully, this is something that is focused on.

It’s okay to offer unsolicited advice, but the abuse we received for not following their complacent examples was inexcusable.

Our prepping did not cause the economy to crash. Gradually prepping in advance, over time, allows the supply chain to handle the extra buying.
I prep every fall for winter. Those in hurricane country, prep every spring for hurricane season. The economy has never crashed as the result of carefully planned, well thought out prepping.
The economy crashing is by people panic buying, as those who did NOT prep are doing now or those who wait until the hurricane or snowstorm is bearing down on them.
Go foist your blame on those who deserve it and I am not accepting it.

Agreed. The whole China thing was an evil bargain from the start. The sooner we’re back more domestically and even more so out of China the better.
Also...additional travel restrictions are being considered. POTUS said they’ll be working with the states.
UK and Ireland are being looked at very seriously...they’ve had a little bit of activity.
