Coronabona
......
Does that mean. ....beat these fear mongers with a stick?
LOL! Yeah, I found it...right next to the RU-486. Now...where did I park my Lamborghini. Shoot, it won’t start. Silence of the lamborghinis. HOW DARE YOU PGalt! I survived abortion. I apologize you dog-faced, pig-tailed, pony soldier.
(Ok that’s enough.../to bed)
I know of 2 Wal-Marts (ours and a friend’s some distance away, but neither near an outbreak) completely wiped out (bad pun) of TP the last 2 days. Canned veggies, dry pasta, rice, beans, bagged snacks, etc., also low. Lots of people with carts stacked high - much more than usual. Our Aldi was out of or very low on quite a few items, very busy, and ditto on the carts. All area schools closing, and, again, no outbreaks or even confirmed cases near us. Have never seen anything quite like it, even B4 a big blizzard coming in.
I just went to the supermarket at 1:30 am. A lot of shelves were barer than I expected. No TP and almost all the canned fruit was gone.
If you go to store in the wee hours, you seldom see many customers. When I went to check out, there were approximately 6 people in the line, and they all had carts completely filled with groceries. I didn’t want to wait, so I left.
People are stocking up, and I’m in good shape. A little concerned about TP, I have enough for a couple weeks...I think.
100k sounds awfully high at this point. If true, there should be a fairly significant number of clinically diagnosed cases by now, even in the absence of CDC style testing.
Just don’t eat too much chili...
Look ! TTUN tears for my morning coffee. Sweet!
I agree. I believe it has already been through the much of the midwest. People got it, recovered, and never got tested. There were no tests. People had been dispersing all around the world thru Wuhan for a long time before the travel ban. And all the people who left Wuhan even two weeks before the ban... they carried it, potentially, and asymptomatic.
Here in Western Pa. still no confirmed cases though the eastern border has 22 currently. It’s a long state so we’re in-land from the mess in NY and NJ. But I suspect it will get here eventually.
Yes I haven’t seen it like this either..it’s different than when storms approach, it’s like a quiet urgency building to get prepared but no panic. Lots of people talking about it though. At least with a storm you know it’s begun, this virus creeps along unnoticed.
They’ve closed down both Colleges but schools remain open. They are discussing that issue currently. Lots of events cancelled. I think the bars have been affected as the usual night traffic is really quiet.
Would be great if we could dodge this bullit, but I’m glad seeing people being cautious and stocking up food supplies etc.
I’ll point out a couple of observations (based on Germany and Europe):
1. Of the five dead Germans, four of them were having health issues before Coronavirus ever came along (bad heart, frail, diabetes, etc).
2. From the original 14 from this one town in Bavaria, all them noted that they had roughly seven days of harsh-regular flu, and by the 10th day...were back to normal. All were under the age of 60.
3. German doctors refuse to put anyone into a hospital quarantine situation unless you are in serious jeopardy (secondary conditions). All of the infected crowd are mostly given home-quarantine for two weeks, then re-tested. This system has proven to work. Generally...85-percent of infected folks are on the home-quarantine route.
4. The high numbers in Italy? There is some belief that the higher numbers of older Italians (more than most other European countries)...set up a collusion course where the hospital system in Italy was the dumping ground for them, and they simply didn’t have the nurses, beds or resources to cover the significant number showing up. Just saying the whole country has X-number of beds doesn’t matter...if you live in one region with 3,000 people coming up each day on the new infection list. That region will have only a percentage of the beds possible, and the number of nurses just can’t cover that many sick people.
5. Finally, the blunt truth is that there is no wonder drugs, no therapy, or vaccine on the horizon. Your only option is to use the sports philosophy of ‘delay-delay-delay’ by practicing good hygiene, limiting public contact, and if in the 85-percent group....do plain regular quarantine at home.
I know, if I get it, I’m going to visit as many MSM outlets as I can and get me a tour of the Democrap side of the House.
Great news! 100,000 undiagnosed cases would dramatically lower the death rate of COVID-19.
This is the most irresponsible piece of crap I have ever seen. Especially in the light of no data on which to base such a statement other than conjecture. How does this person begin to claim that Ohio has as many cases than the rest of the world? Where did they come from? Only 5 are confirmed in Ohio at this point and that number didn’t change in 2 days.
Yes there is a lack of testing, thanks SWAMP. But, that just makes this claim all the more insane and irresponsible.
Using that new math - trying to spread panic when, if true, it would mean that the super-majority of cases are less than a sniffle to deal with.
I’m too lazy to do my homework...how long will evidence of the virus last in the body, and will there be any viral remains or antibodies left at all, that could indicate months after infection, that Covid 19 was present?
My mother is 87 and she’s right.
This generation can bear NO suffering. The idea of possibly missing a meal is so terrifying that they will kill their number to get the last can on the shelf.
She thinks in a real crisis the current generation would fold like a deck of cards. She’s right
The difference is that in Korea, China, and other countries, their Coronavirus tests produces results in four hours. This is why they were able finally get on top of it. Here is the US, it can take up to four days to get test results back, and a patient can walk around for a week infecting everybody until they get sick enough to go to the doctor. This is what will cause it to spread like wildfire here. We don't know who has it!
And, for all you out there who think they are too young to get it, the young man here in Frisco, TX, has now infected his wife and three year old daughter.
And, for those of you who think it's no more serious than a cold, this 35 year old healthy looking doctor doesn't seem to be having an easy time of it. And, this guy is a doctor who has instant access to medical care, and not just some Joe who thinks he's walking around with a cold.
