The normally well-fed primates had no food after coronavirus fears left the normally busy streets in Thailand completely empty of tourists....
====================================================================
Hundreds of starving monkeys fought over a single banana that was left in the street, as tourists who regularly feed them shun Thailand.
The normally well-fed primates swarmed across a street in Lopubri, central Thailand, after they spotted a fellow monkey holding a banana.
A clip showed the primates giving chase to the unlucky monkey, who was doing his best to stay ahead of the pack.
But, it took a sinister turn as they started to shriek and fight over the measly fruit.
The monkeys are then seen jumping over one another and ferociously grabbing at each other as the battle for the banana escalated.
Bystanders were stunned and said the behaviour was totally out of character for the monkeys.
Onlooker Sasaluk Rattanchai, who filmed the banana brawl, said: They looked more like wild dogs than monkeys. They went crazy for the single piece of food. Ive never seen them this aggressive.
She added: I think the monkeys were very, very hungry.
Theres normally a lot of tourists here to feed the monkeys but now there are not as many, because of the coronavirus .
Lopburi is a popular tourist destination, where visitors typically feed the thousands of monkeys who live near temples in the city.
Local media claimed the hundreds of monkeys belonged to two rival gangs and had been squabbling over food as tourist numbers to the country plummeted.
I guess God took the issue over. They must be really happy now that they don’t have that pesky tourist issue to deal with.
I don’t like monkees, either. I do like Gorillas, though.
Mike Nesmith is ok.
LOL! Absolutely.
Not cows, MONKEYS!...............
:)
LOL!......................With Peter and Davey gone, it’s only Mike and Mickey left..................
It’s very gross all over the countries that feed and view these creatures as some sort of religeous entities. They poop all over their buildings and streets....help themselves to their food stands....they even break into houses.
So these monkeys are accustomed to getting hand outs rather than learning how to fend for themselves.
I had some of the symptoms pretty severe, but I think it was just flu. I was never tested. Was traveling through Corona countries.
Well I am glad you are better.
I popped a Benadryl each evening before bed and that cleared up the dry cough.
Maybe it was the Benadryl then. 8>)
Wow, not a single person fishing, swimming or water skiing........
Most of the the tourists are from China and the border is closed.
The main highway up to Chang Mei is under construction and horrible. It’s a death trap.
I was there as the border was being closed and it emptied immediately.
Yep. Except that humans in this country have the 2nd Amendment to protect their banana.
They’ve been thinning the troupe’s at Ankor Wat. Last year they culled 20 or so females from tje troupe and left their babies to starve. Another troup (Amari) has only 4 breeding females left and there are tons of traps throughout the forest capturing many smaller ones to sell on the illegal market. Amber troupe is still the biggest troupe. Unfortunately, the males are left without females to breed and are becoming horribly aggressive toward anyone near them..human, mother monkey or monkey infants.
Ankor is a beautiful temple. I see a lot of work being done there in an effort to restore it.
If anyone saw the clip of the 15 year old female that was robbed and beaten by a gang in (New York, Baltimore, Chicago take you pick) looked very similar to this video.
84 million Egyptians and home grown food for 4 million by oxen plow, 12 million if by tractor. Dependent on S.A. charity. Wonder how things carry on now?
