I’ve wondered for a long time why people choose to live all bunched up in super dense locations when access to work via computer is so common now.
Their ego isn't fed via a virtual world. If they can't see the employee, command the employee to come to their office and stand before their metal desk, they lose something of their ego.
If the boneheads would think they'd empower their folks to work from home.
Ummmmm...because a major chunk of stuff which keeps you safe isnt able to telecommute. Not everyone chooses all bunched up to live the easy life.
Ask the global warming crowd why they dont just have teleconferences
Physical actions can not be done by telecommuting.
I can answer that :)
The VAST majority of big companies in NYC want your ass warming a desk from 9 to 5. or whatever hours you work.
Do I know why? No.
It just is.
They have a friend of mine carrying her laptop to and from work IN CASE she needs to work from home if the virus breaks out badly in NYC
She is allowed to work from home one day a week ALL THE TIME.
What is the difference in that day compared to all the others.
Er, um, I uh, WHO KNOWS??! :)

I’m baffled by the obsession with city living too. Obviously cities made sense when communications and transportation prevented most people from living far away for population centers. These days, they’re mainly a relic from a bygone era :-) .
Hard to do many jobs at home........I wonder why you don’t see that.....
