So think about the potential changes to life / education / industry due to the response in the US from CV.
Colleges just changed to allow online completion (south carolina) for the remainder of the school year.
Fedgov - got the insurance companies to waive costs for testing, and to give breaks to companies to allow workers to stay home.
Fedgov - covering test costs - diagnostics
Fedgov - payroll tax cut (holiday) impacts both workers and employers (helps for unpaid sick leave).
And so.......
these are the type of things that people should look at and say, wow, could that not be the way all the time ???
Thanks freepers !
Physical actions can not be done by telecommuting.
I said many....not all. “eye roll”
but I respect your post And I know you based on many other posts...so thank you.
Ugh. Sorry. Many typos and formatting probs. Not sure why (thought I doublechecked!)
“So” Interesting,,,
?

One of the rare ones that doesn't put a comma after "so".
Very strange, isn't it?
"So" used thusly has kind of bumped "well" out of the way as the nervous-first-breath stalling-tactic syllable.
Like "ah" and "um", only "so" carries with it that Lizzy Warren aggressivenes, as in "so I am going to tell you how it works because you are far too stupid to figure it out yourself."
College - I’ve thought of those profs giving the same lecture year after year. Should just record a really good one on the topic and use it repeatedly. Students could learn remotely.
Probably the idea would not fly with the profs.
It seems very presumptive of a supposed ongoing discussion in the zeitgeist up to now doesn't it?
Health insurance premiums increase with increased costs/overhead (”free” tests). Public health agencies (county/state) should be taking the cost out of their existing budgets.
Snowflakes gallore.
The sub prime mortgage crisis wasn’t overblown. Most don’t realize how close we were to a financial meltdown. Think getting .75 a $1 on your money market fund and what type of chaos that would bring. We were right at that point. Hopefully lessons were learned, but I have my doubts. I’ve been in the investment industry 33 years and 08 was terrifying know how the sausage was made.
And waived the ridiculous “co-pay”
And real estate “babysitting taxes”
Little Johnny and Susie College will revolt if they don’t get to go to a physical college location for their higher ed. The argument is that part of the college experience is mingling with their classmates (say hookups) and getting away from Mom and Pop’s domination. Will never fully take off.
I can answer that :)
The VAST majority of big companies in NYC want your ass warming a desk from 9 to 5. or whatever hours you work.
Do I know why? No.
It just is.
They have a friend of mine carrying her laptop to and from work IN CASE she needs to work from home if the virus breaks out badly in NYC
She is allowed to work from home one day a week ALL THE TIME.
What is the difference in that day compared to all the others.
Er, um, I uh, WHO KNOWS??! :)

managers are not taught to judge employees by results, need products etc. Many think they have to watch the employee work.
If you have three reports due this week and come in next monday with them complete, why care where the reports are done?
People who work report starting earlier. Working later. Taking breaks to take the kids to school and so on. Less gas. less wasted timer.
NEED = END
You’re right.
Maybe they think people will get too comfortable and sloppy working from home.
Well it shouldn’t take that long for it to show and then you make them come in again.
But I’ve not heard of that being the result even once.
