Erika Gomez, a 24-year-old English teacher from Southern California living in China has been quarantined in her studio apartment for 40 days. She shared her experience as the coronavirus continues to spread around the world.
See the video at the site.
There were times in the first few years after my injury that I didn’t leave the house for 50 days or more.
I was on SSDI though.
You get SO lonely. At least I had my cat.
afford what
Wow. That’s tough.
I would starve with no fast food or cook. Couldn’t afford delivery services. The government issued cheese would get old pretty quick.
If you are talking about the Chinese, remember, they have savings that will carry them for many months, if not years. Not uncommon for a Chinese worker to have $30,000 U.S. Dollars in savings.
Still, their economy has transformed and people have shops and restaurants and other businesses...and payments. The business owners of the factories will be the ones having the most difficult time of it. The workers of the factories not so much due to their savings.
Isolation is hard. I rode submarines for Uncle Sam a few months at a time, but I had others stuck there too. Alone would be tougher. A dog or cat would help but it still cant be no peach. Life throws people some crap sometimes. You make your choices and hope for the best. Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.
“You get SO lonely.”
I bet.
With a viral quarantine could I at least take a daily drive to SEE people??!!
Says shes allowed out to go to the market.
No one has a comment on this? How is that a quarantine? Do you really think that mask is going to stop all the little virus bugs? She prob takes it off at home and gets all infected by touching her face....then she goes to the market, picks up stuff, uses doors, pays with touching stuff....
Sometimes you’re the bug, and sometimes you’re the windshield.
Hey how are you?!??! :)
Always love to see your name on the board :)
Ah, nothing thrown at me can break this Eye-talian :)
I hope you and yours are well!
They have both kinds of cheese, right?
White and Rat.
Ive had experience with face masks, painting, scbas and stuff. First thing that happens when you get it on, you wanna scratch your nose. I had to lay flat on my back for six hours after stent surgery once and wasnt suppose to move. First thing I wanted was to scratch my ass. Quarantine? First thing Id want to do, I bet is walk through a park or mall and Im a loner. This whole thing sucks.
I was on complete bedrest for 10 weeks when I was pregnant with twins, and back then we didn’t have a laptop or smart phones. I had the TV and the phone. I couldn’t read much because meds I was on made that difficult.
I managed that ok, so I think others can handle a quarantine ok.
One of the biggest thinks that will freak people out is the warning I have been seeing that the internet may be difficult to use because everyone is home using it.
Withdrawal.
That’s a lot of Spider Solitude.
The world is so stupid. The mask just protects others...and stops you from spreading the virus...if you already have it. What you need are disposable gloves like hospital staff and restaurant employees use. Just throw them out when you get home.
