In September 1978, American singer Donna Summer released a multi-million selling vinyl single disco version of "MacArthur Park". The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of November 11, 1978, for 3 weeks, and earned Summer her first nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. She became the first female artist of the modern era to have the number one single and album simultaneously on the Billboard pop charts (the week of November 11, 1978).

Albus Dumbledore did a better job.
Jimmy Webb wrote this song about his romance with Linda Ronstadt’s sister.
Bfl...I liked Donna summer music
Disco “MacArthur Park”?
Sounds like an atrocity to me. Does it contravene the WMD treaties?
I remember that song but don’t remember the singer.
It was I think the Summer of 72 and my best friend was dating a girl who was pretty but really messed up. She was absolutely crazy over “MacArthur Park”.
One time she wanted to talk to me and we ended up talking for at least a half hour when she just asked me to kiss her. There is no way I was going to do so and I told her why.
A few weeks later my friend told me that she told him about our long talk and how I refused to kiss her because she was my best friend’s girlfriend.
I still talk to my old friend around once a week and a few months back he asked if I knew what ever happened to her. I have no idea why as he has grandchildren almost grown.
"Battles are not won by arms alone. There must exist above all a spiritual impulse - a will to victory. In war there can be no substitute but victory.""Could I have but a line a century Hence crediting a contribution to the advance of peace. I would gladly yield every honor which has been accorded by war."
MacArthur finished number one in his class at West Point. I think Lee finished next to first in his. I have read that Custer finished last in his.
MacArthur was one of a rare club. His Father also was the medal of honor. So did TR and Teddy Roosevelt Junior.
I consider it better than the original...this has no pretense about being some kind of “great art”.
Richard Harris.
I liked Donna Summer’s cover better.
As for the song MacArthur Park, one of the dumbest songs ever. Nobody leaves a cake out in the rain! The only song I hate more is "Good Morning Starshine" by Oliver.....
Gliddy glub gloopy, nibby nabby noopy la, la, la, lo, lo
Sabba sibby sabba, nooby abba nabba, le, le, lo, lo
Tooby ooby walla, nooby abba naba
Early morning singing song
I remember listening to to ‘Disco Donna’ singing MacArthur Park and someone else singing “I didn’t promise you a rose garden” over and over on AM radio during the 4 or 5 days it took me to drive from Chicago to my new assignment at Ft. Huachua, AZ. I grew to detest both of them.
However, I do like the MacArthur Park as sung by Richard Harris.
In some people there is a desire to know "how the story ended" for people and lovers they once knew.
I am a happily married grandfather, but my thoughts often go out to girls I knew before my wife and friends I had in high school and college. I am not longing for them, but I just want to know that things worked out for them.
Then there are people like my wife who have zero interest in anyone in their past. She doesn't understand the allure of Facebook and couldn't care less about her friends from high school and college.
I still talk to my old friend around once a week and a few months back he asked if I knew what ever happened to her. I have no idea why as he has grandchildren almost grown.

I understand.
Sometimes we take stock of our lives and look back on paths not taken.
For example, i discovered that everyone that I dated has died. Everyone I married is still alive.
It was startling.
If you want to live, apparently you have to marry me.
Great score. Weirdo lyrics.
Go buy some Twinkies. They’ll last forever.
