Ha, I’m thinking my oldest friend, now Hussein Head Extraordinaire who barely speaks to me anymore, has noticed that about us, too.

Love seeing our president take pleasure in honoring our veterans.

Also looking forward to him welcoming the Kansas City Chiefs to the White House. They are eager to go.

I’ve only known one person who lived through Iwo Jima. Landed on day 3 and was an artillery man. Great person, he wouldn’t talk about the battle. Just his friends and his life after the war. They and those that serve are great Americans. MAGA

How wonderfully touching. And that Marine in his full dress uniform looks great. What an honor it was for him too.

I play cornhole with a army vet who served on Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. He was a BAR guy. Told me the Marines did all the fighting, and the Army cleaned up afterwards. He’ll be 103 in September. He got a pacemaker at 100. Over his lifetime he and his wife raised 75 foster kids. Really nice man and a very good cornhole player.

You are extremely fortunate. The man I knew was a Marine. The battle lasted over 20 days. The flag raising in the picture was the 2nd flag. I believe the 1st is in the USMC museum. Cherish your time with your friend. Not many of those men from WW2 left.

When he was on Tonga his hand got an infection and he was sent to the hospital ship USS Solace. Interestingly, my father-in-law was a pharmacist mate on the Solace. He’s 96 and just gave up cross country skiing.

Met a guy in Texas, we got pretty tipsy on his porch one night,,,Started telling me stories about WWII, he was UDT, went in to the beach the night before Iwo invasion ,clearing mines and obstacles. He missed the pickup boat and spent the night bobbing around, he said thank God for the guy that invented the wet suit
