* Wuhan's signature dish is 'Hot Dry Noodles' which is the favorite even of some vegans on YouTube who have also taped street food tours of the city. There is more to the cuisine of Hubei province than the hyper-exotic offerings of its now infamous seafood market.

* The residents of the Wuhan appear enthused by American visitors and very warm and welcoming, putting a human face to all those who may have been impacted by the virus in recent weeks.

Who is brave enough to watch a video of Chinese food vendors? And I am not even talking about Coronavirus.

I’ve been watching him for years. This is from 2016. Regardless, he’s pretty fearless in the street food game. He has admitted it hasn’t worked out well time to time.

Andrew Zimmern eats something worse than that in each weekly episode.

Actually, he sounds like he’s Canadian.

I went to some food stalls when I lived in China, and lived to tell about it.

It’s not all bats and civets, you know.

putting a human face to all those who may have been impacted by the virus

They probably also will put chopped-up human face in a taco.

Freaks.

I recently ate at a restaurant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The menu sign out front said “We don’t serve Dog, Cat, Rat, Monkey or Worm.

Of course right above that on the menu was Snake and Deep Fried Frog. (It was the entire frog, not just the legs.)

The broiled scorpions did not look very appetizing either.

I had the Pad Thai.

I'm sure they have deep fried tarantula...

Also

Penis

Yes, you read that right because they just love eating penis in Cambodia. Actually considered a delicacy, cow and bull penis will feature on the menu of many Cambodian restaurants, especially in the provinces. Offered in a variety of forms, cow penis soup and cow penis with red ants are popular variations on cooking the male organ, which is also believed to boost virility.

“The broiled scorpions did not look very appetizing either”

I remember TV coverage of the Beijing Olympics. They did a piece in regards to the street food being served up. Deep fried Scorpions on a Kabob sticks is seared into my memory.

One of the most bizarre was a street vendor in Chinatown Bangkok that sold Fried Squid Eggs for the New Year Celebration

I love Americanized Chinese food that is served in America.

The Chinese food that is available in China is just awful. Slimy, greasy and not trustworthy. Even breakfast is messed up - noodles and vegetables. They only make eggs one way - over hard.

No Chicken of the Cave? That’s a shame. It’s almost as good a delicacy as Chicken of the Railyard.

100% agree. The stuff here is great. I had a very hard time keeping the stuff over there down. Slimy, greasy, gritty, and just plain nasty. It is not anything like the stuff we get here. Even the stuff in expensive places was horrible. Not for an western palate. India was vastly superior IMHO.
