NEW YORK - 2nd case

A man who lives in Westchester County, New York, and works in Manhattan tested positive for coronavirus...

The patient, who has an underlying respiratory illness, is hospitalized...

[snip]

Initial review of the man’s travel does not suggest any direct connection to China or countries on the watch list, however he did go to Miami, Cuomo said. “It would be what we call a community spread case,” he said.

I’ve heard cancer, heart disease, diabetes, respiratory illness obviously. Smokers and ex smokers were high risk according to one study.

Did he commute on the ( small, tight, enclosed) train?

A tea towel is NOT what tea bags are made of. It was a cloth that was used to wipe up little spills. Many were embroidered so were pretty when used for ladies’ tea time. Basically, they are a medium-heavy weight cotton material. A cotton fabric that’s heavier than an expensive cotton man’s shirt but nowhere as heavy as jeans.

I wouldn’t use tea towels found at Hobby Lobby because the weave is too loose so the holes are quiet large.

The mask patterns don’t look like they’d stop anything since the edges don’t appear to fit the face. You’d need some duct tape.

“worked at same restaurant” Let me guess, they’ll never publish which restaurant.

Tissue material used to make dunking teabags.

That's is no where near what tea towel fabric is.

Thank you! That’s helpful. I wish they would say what the underlying condition was in each death (would be easy in the US with so few). Not to give us all a false sense of security but to clarify who is most vulnerable.

How about the N99 mask... Having trouble finding the virus size. Do you have the smallest size of particles a person coughs up?

I see the N95 mask will work on 0.4.

Add most anything that would weaken the immune system. Like age.

(It’s a dicey balance — you don’t want the immune system to overreact, either.)

the whole re-infection/false recovered issue hopefully will get some clarity in coming weeks. some chilling questions on this topic, and presumably at least one of them is the issue.

Look through your closet for something old that matches with what I posted you. A medium-heavyish cotton fabric. Don’t order them online because you won’t know how loose the threads are.

Stock up on duct tape if you’re going to make masks so you get a better fit.

WHO just said that Corvid 19 doesn’t transmit as efficiently as the flu and only 1% of cases were asymptomatic based on China data

Coronavirus live updates: Westchester County man who tested positive may be case of ‘community spread’
A virus epidemic that started in China is tightening its grip around the globe.

...9:53 a.m. Latest US patient in ‘serious condition,’ New York City mayor says

The latest American to be diagnosed with the novel coronavirus is receiving treatment at a New York City hospital where he remains “in serious condition,” according to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The patient received the diagnosis on Monday after a test conducted by the New York City Public Health Laboratory came back positive, de Blasio said.

“City and state disease detectives are working closely to identify close contacts and the appropriate next steps,” the mayor said in a statement Tuesday. “With the results confirmed within a number of hours, we were immediately able to take next steps to stop the spread of this virus. We have said from the beginning that it is likely we will see more positive cases of the Coronavirus. We are working closely with our state and federal partners to ensure we are taking the highest precautions to keep New Yorkers safe.”

The man is a resident of New Rochelle and works as a lawyer at a law firm in New York City, according to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The patient was initially admitted to Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville and later transferred to a New York City hospital.

It’s unknown whether he has recently used any public transportation

That’s a lot of potential contacts, first responders and healthcare workers

Most people who commute to the city use trains.
