Oita is the first infection confirmed. At 6:30 pm on the 3rd, infections were confirmed in Japan: 266 266 people infected in Japan and travelers from China, 706 706 passengers and crew members on cruise ships, charter aircraft A total of 986 people have returned from 14 countries.

Just an anecdotal observance from the Twin Cities...
This morning on the express bus to downtown Minneapolis, I saw a guy wearing a mask. It looks like one of those surgical masks. He was a white guy perhaps in his early to mid 60’s.
Not sure if he was being overly cautious or perhaps he had a suppressed immune system and was thing “Better safe than sorry”. Maybe he works with a lot of Asian people at his job.
But other than seeing some shelves at my local Target looking a bit picked over (Clorox, disinfecting wipes, etc), this is the first really tangible evidence I’ve seen of anything happening here.
And 3 days later for everyone they infected. And a few days later for those the following group infected. Rinse and repeat.
One week ago today I saw a woman at my local Safeway wearing a mask, which I thought was weird since I live in the mountains. HOWEVER, just yesterday we had a confirmed case a little over an hour away from here.
I never heard of them, couldn't find out anything about them...but their lead article claimed that the Pope and a couple of his assistants have Coronavirus and are confined under quarantine in Rome..
Anybody know anything about this? Is this a Fake News internet outfit?

yes. the potential long-term impacts are beginning to sink in. also throw in decent odds a major war starts at some point in coming years. this is an extraordinarily destabilizing event.
i have not seen a coherent argument AGAINST annual epidemic from this, which is so bad it will by definition change our country and society into something directly out of post-apocalyptic fiction.
It was announced earlier today that the pope tested negative.
