An Atlanta man pretended he was gay to lure his female victim into his home, where he violently raped her, prosecutors said.
Taurence Callagain, 36, was convicted by a jury in September 2015 after meeting the unnamed victim at a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority station just weeks earlier, Fulton County prosecutors announced Tuesday.
They rode the same train and eventually exchanged numbers, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said. The victim is a lesbian and has a female partner who she was in a relationship with when she met the defendant.
Callagain gained the victims trust by making her believe that he wasnt interested in women, giving her the impression that he had no intention of starting a sexual relationship, Turner said.
On the night of the attack, the woman missed her last bus, prompting Callagain to offer her a ride home so she wouldnt have to walk more than a mile to her apartment in Allen Hills.
Turner said Callagain then told the woman that he needed to stop at his home, where the victim thought the pair were going to the mans bedroom to smoke marijuana. He instead violently raped the woman, telling her that he would summon his friends if she resisted, prosecutors said.
I will get my boys to come in and hold you down, Callagain told her, according to Turner.

I dont think perp and victim photos will be necessary. I can take a pretty good guess.
In prison his new roomie may announce his heterosexuality before raping this man.

Popular saying in the '80s.
The old “I’m gay want to go in my bedroom and smoke pot” trick. Crude but apparently effective.
Gee. I would have thought it would be perfectly safe to go to some queer (mentally ill) strangers house late at night to smoke marijuana.
Guess not.
As opposed to 'non-violently' raping her.
“There was a young queer from Khartoum
Who took a lesbian up to his room
They argued all night
Over who had the right
To do what, with which, and to whom”
She converted him, no?
Will he be released without bail under deBlasio’s policies?
Can we establish guilt?
Its a New York State policy, unfortunately.
He deserves whatever punishment he gets.
And she needs to realize that going to a stranger’s house to smoke weed is not generally a safe thing, even if the guy pretends to be gay. Even if he was really gay, he could have done all sorts of bad things; he could have been a serial killer, for all she knew.
“In prison his new roomie may announce his heterosexuality before raping this man.”
LOL
Atlanta is not in New York.
If I’m ever out with a woman and her angry boyfriend/husband/ex-boyfriend/ex-husband/stalker shows up armed and threatening, it’s always been sort of my backup plan to pretend to be gay.
Proudly reading but not absorbing the article since just after lunch...
