A lot of String Theorists have gone to the extreme of saying no experimental evidence is needed to verify their theory. The theory must be correct because it is mathematically "beautiful" whatever that means. That argument sound like something from theology or philosophy not a science. String theory might end up as one of the greatest achievements of science or one of the greatest wastes of mental capacity in history as some of the greatest minds have spent now over three decades on this .

String theory is a mathematical fraud engaged in for funding purposes only.

Any basic application of scientific method would discard it out of hand for its inability to produce a testable hypothesis.

Poor Sheldon. He found string theory a dead end.

If a hypothesis cannot be tested, it is not Science

There is one theory that explains everything: we are living in a simulation

Just because the math is valid doesn’t mean it applies to anything in the physical universe. Until and unless string theory can ever move to the experimental phase, it’s a great exercise in mathematics.

My cat is a great fan of the string theory. He fantasizes about it.

String theory is a crock. There’s a ton of leading physicists who will tell you that it’s gone off the deep end.

I have a gut feeling that string theory is junk math.

As it has been rather famously said: "String Theory isn't even wrong!"

I think our understanding of the universe is missing a few fundamental things. This is why we can't bridge Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.

If you can't test something, it's not science, it's philosophy, or worse. There might well be some useful concepts in string theory, but it doesn't seem to describe the actual universe we live in. As such, it's not useful except as a form of masturbation for math geeks.

IMO, the Electric Universe has much more going for it than string theory ever has. It has at least made predictions that have been tested.

I’ve come to the conclusion that we are in a universe deliberately designed to create intelligent life, but also to make sure that it stays contained. Therefore I’d be disappointed if String Theory was an easy problem to solve. Solving String Theory means we have figured out how to get out of the box and likely to result in a counter action we are not going to like.

I once read an article about abstract and other modern art that claimed that “beautiful” is not how critics should think about the value of art. It seems to me that it is probably the single most valuable criterion for art and music, although there are others. But what do I know?

And maybe for mathematics also. But until something has real world testability it can’t be called science; pure mathematics is what it is. IMO.

“String Theory” pretends that if you can mathematically fabricate a result then it MUST exist in nature. It is not based on and has no basis in empirical science. It’s a mathematicians manufactured theory, which has managed to manufacture needless “theoretical” work for what would otherwise be out of work theorists. It’s quite a feat to manufacture a need for people who just have too much time on their hands with nothing useful to do, and want to get paid for their useless efforts; which include selling the pretense that what they do is needed and useful.

We are members of Reasons to Believe. We have monthly meetings with speakers who are at the tops of their field in String Theory, Quantum Mechanics, Physics, Evolution, Young Earth vs Old Earth, NDEs, Creation, Who was Adam, The Universe, Cosmology, Viruses, Biochemistry, Astronomy, Astrophysics, New Testament, Old Testament, etc etc etc. We believe in Christianity and Science, that they go hand in hand, with God as our creator.... Last meeting we had as our speaker A J Roberts. She has studied viruses for many years and is an expert in them. She was very interesting, we learned a lot as usual.

Anyone in the Austin area, you are welcome to join us. We meet on the UT campus in Austin at the Longhorns for Christ meeting room. We would love to have you! We are planning an RTB cruise in June to Hawaii! Hopefully conorna virus will be a distant memory by then..

We are a NON PROFIT org

"And yet it has not produced even one testable prediction in all that time,..."

Not sure I'd agree with that... Last time I was at a beach I saw many instances of "testable predictions" for string theory... Of course I refrained from any testing since old age has taken its toll... Although many predictions easily came to mind...

It is genius art, not science, with no application to reality except in the way avant garde art can mirror reality.
