It is a scholarly and factual publication.
They put the death rate at 2.8%.

Totally agree - hopefully the President and VP Pence will have more chances to call the Dems on the carpet for their politicizing instead of working together to solve this “crisis”.

You have to look carefully at the definitions and how they’re calculated.
According to the official numbers, a total of 35,612 cases have resolved. 2,798 of them have died. That means that out of all the cases that have resolved 7.9% have died. So the numbers have improved a bit since I made my post.
The 2.8% figure includes those who are still sick and assumes they will all recover.
Do they have any idea how many got the disease and recovered without treatment, or those who got it and never had symptoms?

No one that is about my age ever seems to have seen that. Maybe he was aware of the flu scare and was just pointing out a real scare of what can happen.

Yes, it’s hard. And the other thing with people trying to base things on China is that the Chinese simply lie. They may be minimizing their problem...or for reasons of their own, they may be exaggerating it. So any supposed info you get from China is pretty useless, but as you say it’s hard to sort out what’s really happening here in the US with all the hair on fire comments cluttering the threads!

I think we were too young to realize how scared our parents were about polio. I stilll remember a friend who contracted it, and many many kids in leg braces
Ironically this manmade virus seems to have the same incredible R naught as polio, or even measles....except it takes a 2 stage swing at trying to kill you first with flu then with pneumonia and maybe cytokine storm for those with strong immune systems. Then leaves survivors with heart and lung damage so the next reinfection takes you out but good...since China is finding 10% or more of the recovered...get sick again
And we thought only mumps left men infertile....
