New York City transportation authorities have inflicted lots of bike lanes on locations where they are particularly inappropriate. But for sneering, arrogant disregard make that contempt for the surroundings, none can equal the plan for a protected bike lane along Midtowns Sixth Avenue from West 35th Street to Central Park South this year.

[T]he Sixth Avenue lane raises the bar for malicious streetscape tampering. Sorry for the repeated text.
I don’t really know anything about Sixth Avenue traffic but I have complete confidence that D ‘Blasio and his ilk can and will screw it up.
I’ve done my part for the NYC traffic problems, I’ve stayed away for the last 25 years.
Ha. Nice.
It’s much worse now because all the “pedestrian plazas” in the major crossroads—for the tourists.
Sadism.
I don’t think those things. Do those attitudes reflect your values?
AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
(visions of body outlines on the pavement!)
Bloomturd started this nightmare in revenge for the city council turning down his congestion pricing. So he went ahead and made 2 or 3 lane streets in one lane by making one a bike lane and the other a bus lane. And then he put a woman, Janette Sadik Khan, with absolutely zero experience in charge of the transportation commission where she put no turn signs all over the place that backed up traffic for miles because nobody could turn off once they got on a street. Anyone who drives in there is absolutely nuts.
I would have loved, LOVED, to have seen Trump stick his head out and give her the finger back LOL!
.
Does anyone know if this "protected" lane replaces the existing "parking" lane?
I see bike riders acting that way all the time. Stop signs seem only for autos in riderss minds. Riding with traffic is another optional convention.
Better to live in these cities that only have five or so.
There’s one traffic light at a major intersection that just stays red . . . and stays red . . . while nothing is coming in any direction. I love that one.
95% of bikers in NYC do not obey the laws... and they are rude. Bike lanes have no business in NYC. Heard that thousands more bikes will be added this year. oh joy. not.
