Tesla is Slowly Pushing Germany Into Recession
CCN ^ | 23 Feb 2020 | Ben Brown

Germany is on the brink of recession as its auto industry hits a 22 year low. Tesla - and the EV movement - has disrupted the backbone of Germany's economy.

The economy is being dragged down by a seismic slump in car manufacturing. The Tesla effect – and the shift to electric vehicles – is leaving Germany in dire straits.

The latest economic figures out of Germany aren’t pretty: zero growth for the fourth quarter.

Reuters compared the challenge facing Germany with 1970s Detroit, where a rapid decline in the auto industry decimated the entire city.

It could well be that we have passed the peak of automotive production.

When Tesla launched the Model 3 in Europe last year, it instantly outsold rival sedans at BMW and Mercedes. It was the third best-selling car, period, in December.

It might be hard to find but it will be super cheap LOL.
Of course you will have to use a hand pump most times because all those ecars will kill the grid.

Let’s see... people make buying decisions, and buy a great car, and you have a problem with it? Oh, and I’ve talked to several Tesla owners. They love ‘em. So what is your problem with it? If people want to buy electric cars, that doesn’t mean its a commie plot.

” If people want to buy electric cars, that doesn’t mean its a commie plot.”

That’s quite a leap. The car has shortcomings, try driving from Cleveland to Pittsburgh and back. That’s at least 2 45 minute charging stops. And those Teslas aren’t cheap.

My point isn’t that Teslas are the seed of a commie plot. EVs are an evolving tech that has a place in a diverse energy market. If Germans are abandoning internal combustion for EV, I suspect that climate change and virtual signaling are a high component of that equation. The cost of gasoline is much higher in Europe, so that’s another component.

But it does logically follow that those 40 and under are emerging as a force, and will shape the world as they see fit. And I don’t see that as a good thing.

What’s going to be fun is when Tesla finds out that their Chinese parts and materials won’t be showing up for a while!

(of course no different that for other car makers)

So what if the car requires 2 45 minute recharging stops? That means the car isn’t a good fit for you. Terrific. Then buy something else. No one is FORCED to buy an electric car. We still have a free market.

As to the those under 40 emerging as a force and shaping the world as they see fit..... thats basically a summarized history of how the world has always worked. And will always work.
